DALLAS -- Dallas police are looking into a shocking crime against an Iraq War vet that took place on a college campus.
Overnight Tuesday, someone took vandalized 23-year-old Army veteran Viktor Whitlow's vehicle while it was parked at Dallas Baptist University. Ironically, the mascot at DBU is the Patriot.
The vandals used a box cutter to destroy the inside of his jeep, they slashed five tires and smashed through the windshield. Perhaps the most shocking detail to the vandalism was the message spray painted on his hood.
In red paint the vandals spraypainted the message, "Soldiers are murderers."....
Dallas police said Whitlow's case is not considered a hate crime because military personnel cannot be members of a hate crime.

Bad enough that such a thing as a hate crime exists at all, but then to give exceptions as well. How nuanced.

well, because of that exception, Dallas police won’t investigate it and it’s left to campus cops...which means nothing will get done.
When they finally feel that they've won, that's when they put the chains on and pull out the bull whips.

You’ve got to be a member of of one of the “protected classes” before the law on hate crimes applies. Being a white male Christian citizen soldier veteran just doesn’t press any of the approrpiate victim buttons to invoke the law...so it is just a $10,000 crime against property.

I can only imagine the masturbatory glee they're feeling from this pathetic statement. This is likely, and sadly, the high water mark of their lives.

I understood the point - it was the phrasing “members of a hate crime” that was bizarre. Could be a good name for a rock band ...
