.I remember the Ash Alerts, the "close yer tags" and "No Italians" posts, the cries of "disruptor" before the word "troll" was even invented, Eschoir and Batjack and Deep In the Hurtgen Forest and Classy Green-Eyed Blonde. Don't forget the White House Basement Boiler Room.
And I am so glad that Jim fixed that close your tags thing. LOL. I had forgotten about that. We would get an entire thread in bold or italics.
Wasn't this a Bulletin Board site before it was a web site? I seem to recall dialing in in the early days. Or was that somewhere else I am thinking of?

It certainly was a BBS. And 56K was purty durn tootin' fast, too! I only lurked in '97 and so can't really claim to be one of the old old-timers.
Ah, how well I remember the trepidation with which I first hit that Post button. FR was rough in those days. Not like now. ;-)

This per JimRob, "...(beginning sometime in '93 or '94) I had been following our new President's crimes and corruption spree by reading and posting to Prodigy's Whitewater bulletin board at night and on weekends. In September of 1996, I created the Free Republic website..."
