One reason that Sen. McCain may remain competitive: The survey shows that voters have grown even angrier about the direction of country than they were over the summer, a sentiment that the Arizona lawmaker has appealed to with a passionate populist message. For more than a week, he has eviscerated Wall Street and Washington alike for the greed, corruption and incompetence he says lie behind the financial meltdown.
At the same time, a majority of voters still believe Sen. Obama is best able to handle the economy, and many more believe he would bring real change to the country than say the same of Sen. McCain.
Overall, the race remains a statistical tie, with 48% favoring Sen. Obama and his running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, and 46% favoring Sen. McCain and his vice presidential choice, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. In the last Journal poll two weeks ago, Sen. Obama had a one-point edge. The new poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

"For everybody who wants to close the door on this election: sorry, not yet," said Mr. Hart.
The Journal/NBC News poll comes a day after a national poll conducted for the Washington Post and ABC News found Sen. Obama with a nine-point lead. Mr. Hart, the Journal's Democratic pollster, argued that these results were skewed because their sample included a disproportionate number of Democrats. Democrats had a 16-point advantage in the Post/ABC poll, which is considerably higher than most polls have found historically and even this year.
The Journal/NBC poll found an eight-point advantage for Democrats.

Careful folks ... they’r eup to their old tricks again - trying to demoralize the GOP base. DOn’t fall for it and get more aggressive on your efforts to keep the Obomination out of the WH.
I will be posting what I said from an earlier post every time I see polls posted .....
“Just came for Drudge and he has a picture of the smug black messiah making a fist like the black panthers! I still dont believe this, NO WAY, NO HOW(poll numbers)....Im getting a little nervous but GOD will help us win this battle. The Tsunami of evil spewed by the RATS and their accomplices is beyond anything I have EVER witnessed. I serve a God who deals with the impossible, I serve a MIGHTY God who deals severely with evil doers. I serve a God who listens to the cries of his people. I serve a KING who has the power to turn the hearts of people to do the right thing. I serve a MASTER who turns situations around... what satan meant for evil HE will turn it around for good. I have to believe I serve a MIGHTY GOD! Fix your eyes on Him dont look at the situation, but put your faith in him. IF ever we needed Him most its now. Call upon him and he will answer. Im NOT willing to surrender my COUNTRY over to Satans cronies yet! The SPIRITUAL fight has just began. Please, I implore you, FAST AND PRAY. This is the only way we can defeat the demons and their plans. PLEASE, PLEASE..God Doesn’t need an army of millions but a handful of faithful believers who are willing to take a stand in the middle of the Storm by faith believing without wavering that God can do all things! Even this to turn an election to favor McPAL! Join me with prayer and fasting.”
Well, apparently it isn’t just the Journal that has Osama ahead.
Now on Fox Osama is WAY ahead of McCain 45% to 39%.
Mac is sinking fast due to the financial problems. The Masses now believe the financial mess is a the Repubs fault.
A 2 point lead for Obama , in a sample with an 8% Democrat edge, is nothing. The Fox and ABC polls are outliers.
Too many doom and gloomers around here
McCain just gained 15% in the polls
Hear us, Mighty God, as we cry out to you on behalf of America. May those who seek its ruin for their own personal gain be set to confusion and become ensnared in their own evil traps. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
They haven’t demoralized me, I got my voter card and I’m ready to vote, straight GOP!
A 1 point change for Obama in the last 2 weeks. Not back from McCain’s perspective.
Interesting enough, Mccain is the ONE demoralizing the GOP base with his RINO talks. He should have learned from George Bush that trying to raise above partisan isn’t going to please anyone. On the financial crisis, Mccain is giving the exact same talking point as George Bush.
Just curious, how much credence do you put into the falling Intrade numbers for McCain? The lastest has him down to ~44. I don’t know if it means much or not....
Put it this way, Nine days ago Obama hit a low of 43% at Intrade.
Intrade is a snapshot poll, with marginal final results.
Kerry at 80% on election Day 2004.
