No, there are political realities that suggest that extremely radical ideas---no matter how good---aren't going to get in the mix by this time of the debate. To muster a majority on congress now to get behind some of these types of things would not only be impossible, but it would certainly take away from what few incremental real "fixes" that still can be made.

Because understand this: the other side knows EXACTLY what they want to accomplish, and any wasted effort or diffusion of energy at all is going to result in them getting everything.

I’m sorry, but I’m not aware of many ideas originated from this forum that have made it into congressional debate. That’s an extremely high bar for relevancy.

If a solution is politically palatable, economical, moral and accomplishes its objectives better than leading alternatives, it’s relevant for discussion. If the criteria for relevancy were that no one in Congress has suggested it or likely will suggest it, this forum wouldn’t exist in any recognizable form.

Regarding this suggestion specifically, I’d argue that there’s little that’s more politically plausible than tax cuts directed to the people in order to save the homes and investments of millions, especially in an election year. Whether it’s moral, economical or does a better job of alternatives are up for debate.
