Saddam Hussein was a secular socialist revolutionary who transformed Iraq into a Soviet puppet regime. He occasionally used religion for political purposes to bolster support for his regime in times of crisis, in much the same way Stalin (a hardened anti-theist) revived the Russian Orthodox Church during WWII to stimulate patriotism and bolster support for the war effort. I bet you would have fallen for Stalin's ploy hook, line, and sinker.

Not at all, but you sure fell for the “Iraq was secular” meme. I suppose you also contend along with those who pushed that contention that this meant he had little or no ideological motive to support Islamic terrorism?
