The President can not afford to “scare the pants off the nation.” This is a crisis of confidence in financial institutions which could lead to bank runs. But no suprise that Schumer, who did cause a bank run, opened his mouth about the closed door meeting. Someone should put a sock in his mouth.
If providing the facts and what is at stake, then I have no problem with that. The American people must be treated like adults. Paulson, Bernancke et. al. would like to get this resolved prior to the opening of the markets next Monday to prevent a meltdown. And frankly, there is no guarantee that this solution will stave off a possible Depression.
