If not Biden there is that guy from Iran who wishes to debate either Obama or McCain. I’d LMAO if Obama and Imadinnerjacket debated while McCain rolled up his sleeves in DC.

You and Rush are wrong.

This is a brilliant move!

It’s a variation on the old “debating an empty chair” gambit, except it’s Obama who is in a no-win position.

All Obama has to say, “what you can’t walk and chew gum at the same time” or “I’m running for the highest office in the land, I’ll let the Senate do what it’s suppose to do...”

The only problem is that they ARE in the Senate. Which means it's their job. Which means Obama is letting someone do his job on one of the most important economic decisions that the Senate has ever done.

But he's still in danger of appearing not caring about the 'crisis' and putting himself above the United States economy.

I see it this way. We are paying for those two bozos to work not campaign and ride around in airplanes everyday.

I am seeing quite a few new posters bashing this move.

I smell some trolls.

It doesn’t add up.

In any event, hammering out a joint statement isn’t exactly rolling up one’s sleeves and getting to work.

The more Obama plays politics with this issue and refuses to actually leads, the better it is for McCain.

Let Obama keep sending out press releases, when the public can see McCain in DC working on a bill that benefits the us, while Obama is making press releases and taking credit while doing nothing, McCain will come out the winner.

Btw, Obama to make remarks in the next 30 minutes per Hannity

The more I think about this, the more I think it might a stroke of genius. The lefty blogs are already apopleptic about the fact that McCain just COMPLETELY upstaged Obama on an issue that Obama was supposed to have the upper hand - the economy. McCain is coming off looking like a man who wants to actually get down and get dirty with the nuts and bolts solutions needed to fix the economy; Obama seems (so far, any way) like he’s just interested in making more campaign promises.

Could the Maverick have pulled off another brilliant political move, a la Sarah Palin? My fingers are crossed....

While I don’t have a problem with this, I do question how this is going to play out in the media. I can just imagine how they will spin it. “McCain slipping in the polls, asks to have the debate postponed.”

This is probably the right thing to do. It may be seen as a mistake later.

The confused reports to date make it appear that:

1. Obama privately raised the possibility of suspending campaigns for the next few days.

2. McCain went public, and added the idea of cancelling the debate.

3. Obama rejected the idea of cancelling the debate.

If that's how the story comes out when the smoke clears, McCain is going to be very busy applying a tourniquet to the bullet wounds in his foot.

“McCain and Obama are both sitting Senators, and yet we are paying them to campaign instead of do their jobs. IMO, both these guys need to be back in the Senate right now.”

I agree with you 100%. If this is a critical “crisis” as the President says it is, Congress cannot recess without getting it done. I’m interested to hear W’s speech tonight.
