Chronicles of Absurdity Anan Colmes and Lindsay Lohan Dissect Sarah Palin, Parent
National Review magazine ^ | Sept. 29, '08 | Jim Geraghty

* CNN's John Roberts asked a female correspondent: "Children with Down syndrome require an awful lot of attention and it raises the issue of how much time will she have to dedicate to her newborn child?" * The Atlantic's Andrew Sullivan felt the need to spotlight a reader's e-mail that shared the charge that "Sarah Palin is a bad mother!" * Fox news commentator Alan Colmes put up a post on his blog asking, "Did Palin Take Proper Pre-Natal Care?" and noting that "even after the water broke, she continued with her activities and then boarded a plane." Had Colmes consulted something beyond one newspaper article about the birth, he might have learned that this occurs in about 150,000 U.S. pregnancies each year and can occur a week before labor begins. At the time, Palin consulted her doctor who determined she was not in active labor and okayed her flight. Many interpreted Colme's post as whether the flight contributed to Trig Palin's Down syndrome, and liberal bloggers repeated the charge.

After being educated at a northeastern university, Colmes tried his had at being a comedian, but decided instead to be a clown.

Hannity has no plans to remove Colmes, at least not that I’ve heard of.

I agree with you, if he got rid of the idiot and put in a democrat like Kirsten Powers his ratings would go WAY up.
***********
Agreed! Kirsten seems somewhat reasonable. She recently wrote a good article that made me think there may be hope for her, afterall.

Alan is just so whiney and ridiculous, illogical and looks like he just crawled out of a 1,000 year old casket in some place called “Transylvania.”

I think Sean keeps him on just to make him look even better looking than he is.

Colmes'd like that.

Lohan wouldn't.

They need a conservative doctor to explain DNA. I don’t think you make an extra gene by not going to the hospital with the first labor pain. Geez, Sarah is so competent this is the best they can do.

I can’t watch because of either of them. Sean Hannity is a good spouter of catch phrases, but he is really dimwitted and lets alot of stuff fly right by him.

And Alan Colmes is more than a moron than I thought if he thinks not getting to a hospital immediately caused a chromosome problem in an infant.
********************
I agree with you about Sean. Some folks really love Sean, and that’s good - he has his place in the conservative world of talk radio and t.v. I see him as more of a rah-rah guy, but as far as really digging deep (not the most comprehensive radio show on the air!), no — sorry. He also jumps on liberals too quickly when they call into his show instead of listening to them and using it as an opportunity to teach them or open their eyes.

My feeling is that if a liberal calls in to a conservative talk radio show, they are curious or dissatisfied.

Rush has many folks who were liberals and changed to conservatives because of his show.

Oh well - there’s a place for everyone!

Oh, and about this — yes, he is definitely clueless if he thinks anything she did during her pregnancy caused the Down Syndrome.

I had Down Syndrome twins in 8 and it’s about the 21st pair of chromosones, Alan. Geeeeez!

I do remember asking the Doctors if it happened because I drank a diet Coke when I was pregnant. So I guess there is a learning curve.

But, for Pete’s sake, if you’re going to act like you’re some of kind of expert on politic subjects, at least do your homework before you let everyone know your ignorance.

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly! I get downright angry when someone calls in to disagree and instead of discussing anything, he just does the “so you’re a big lib” crap. It just makes conservatives look stupid IMO.

At least Rush will attempt to engage them and try to explain rather than jump into a third grade rant.

I’ve heard calls on Sean’s show and they’ll get three words in on a topic and that’ll set him off on a ten minute tangent that ends with “thanks for the call”. Yeah, the call that they got to give you a lead in with. Great call Sean.

Colmes is a triple AAA certified IDIOT. I can’t stand him on H&C and hardly ever watch that program anymore. How Hannity can put up with that goof is beyond me. If they would replace him with Kristin Powers at least the converstaions would be that..rather than Colmes cutting people off for commercial break when they say something he does not like.

Hell keep Colmes. It's sorta like hanging out with fat, ugly people. You are then referred to as the good looking one.

Hannity has a lot of good stuff but it bothers me that he is a little too friendly with the enemy. At times he looks at the election as a horse race, not a contest between evil and the lesser evil.

You misspelled Colmes’s first name in the title.

It should be A-N-U-S!

I agree with you guys about Colmes. It’s fine if Hannity has a liberal on the program to debate but Colmes is a rude grandstander. He talks over guests, interrupts them every four words and, worst of all, rather than pose a simple, clear question to them gives a five minute speech full of liberal talking points - with a question that pops up almost incidentally at the end of his screed.

You’ve nailed it! Let me give a quote from the posted article. Geraghty writes: “Reality check: Has anyone ever asked whether Obama, Biden, Bill or Hillary Clinton, George W. Bush, or indeed ANY other candidate for high office with children, would put family or country first?”

I agree. I really enjoy Hannity’s talk show, but I can no longer watch the TV show...Colmes just ruins it.

I agree with your assessment of Sean’s show.

I had to stop listening to him for that reason. My two radio addictions are Rush in the morning and Hugh Hewitt in the afternoon (3-6) and if I get a chance - Mark Levin at night.

Gee - that does look like an addiction, doesn’t it?

Hugh Hewitt is great because he interviews some really great guests. He’s a lawyer and I love they way he interviews people.

There are many other good radio show hosts - conservative talk radio is the best!!
