Southerners are used to this, this is infantry from the 101st Airborne with fixed bayonets.

(There will be more than one "October surprise" this time. Count on it.)

This is probably total BS... but it would be in response to rioting when the messiah loses... but this is probably leftist tripe for consumption by the likes of damon, afflack and streisand.

Commies issuing talking points? I missed that segment.
Although I have noticed Shep Smith is extremly agitated and concerned lately, alarmist, really.

wait..IIRC, ArmyTimes is NOT a military publication. For some reason, I remember some sort of trouble in the past with ArmyTimes.
Damn, CRS!
To: section9
Yikes, I hadn’t heard about that. Guess I should watch local news more often!

Now, instead of switching units based on who does or does not happen to be home from Iraq, there will be one designated active unit that will not be deployed away. Bingo.
Units in the continental U.S. have always been available to be called upon to respond to natural disasters or civil disturbances. Remember Katrina? Remember the 101st in Little Rock?
The innovation here is that Army North will actually have a unit designated and assigned to it for that purpose and that unit will actually train for possible missions, rather than the last minute tasking that happened in the past.

It sounds to me like they are worried about terrorist attacks in the US.

Yes, he had something just before the end of the first hour about the dims and CPUSA having the same attacks at Republicans.
FWIW, I remember all the riot control drills we did when I got in back in 73. We had 12 gage shotguns and riot sticks in every unit.

Has this ever been done before during peace time? Someone ought to know.
To: Havok
One Brigade is worthless, one brigade could only handle maybe one city like DC in the event of a major rioting or some localized event. NYC, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, or LA would easily suck up a whole Division doing major peacekeeping ops. 4000 soldiers in a Striker unit really doesn’t go that far. To make a good comparison, NYPD has over 36,000 officers.

Actually, he was making fun of Fox and Friends for having a Breaking News segment when one of the airports had to be evacuated for what turned out to be grenade paper weights. I thought...wow, pot/kettle/black!

Elements of 1st Mar Div responded to the Rodney King riots.
This is not the first time, they just don’t like talking about it.
