Three Democratic senators demanded "bare-minimum" civil rights protections Tuesday for Americans who might be targeted in FBI national security investigations without any evidence of wrongdoing.

In a letter to Attorney General Michael Mukasey, the senators also urged the Justice Department to delay still-tentative rules that would expand FBI powers to seek out potential terrorists. They said the new policy could allow surveillance of Muslim- or Arab-Americans based, in part, on their race, ethnicity or religion.

"The Justice Department's actions over the last eight years have alienated many Americans, especially Arab and Muslim Americans," wrote Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin, Russ Feingold and Edward M. Kennedy. "We are concerned that issuing new attorney general guidelines without a more transparent process will actually make the FBI's job more, not less, difficult by exacerbating mistrust in communities whose cooperation the FBI needs."

The rules, known as the attorney general guidelines, do not require congressional approval.

"The Justice Department's actions over the last eight years have alienated many Americans, especially Arab and Muslim Americans,"

That's just too bad now, isn't it? Let them go back to their own country if they don't like it. It's NOT the Amish, or the Baptists who are murdering innocent people. It's Muslims!

(They said the new policy could allow surveillance of Muslim- or Arab-Americans based, in part, on their race, ethnicity or religion. )

Lets see. A group of people, using their race, ethnicity and religion as a basis of their actions, seek to destroy America. These people are commonly called Islamofacist or Muslim Terrorists.
So we are to ignore their race etthinicity and religion as they war on us?
These Senators are STUCK ON STUPID.............

And the terrorists really appreciate the hard work of their supporters.

Not only terrorists from the Islamic World.

But probably (and maybe even more to the point)...
Democratic robber-barons on Wall Street and other institutions
such as FannieMae/FreddieMac.

Even during today's testimony Sec. Paulson was expressing gratitude
for having gotten warrants for assets that are part of the current
money/credit debacle.

Even though Paulson is a Democrat (as reported today by Rush Limbaugh)...
maybe there is pressure to go after the pukes that got golden
parachutes (of $$$ values unimaginable to the Average Joe/Josephine)
and there's the threat of FBI investigations and warrants directed
towards some of the Democratic (Obama/Hillary supporters) that
populate the high-finance world.

And for Kennedy, he's probably going for sainthood status for
creating cover for old-school violent terrorists of the IRA.
Even as he draws closer to breathing his last.

“The Justice Department’s actions over the last eight years have alienated many Americans, especially Arab and Muslim Americans,” wrote Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin, Russ Feingold and Edward M. Kennedy. “

WHILE AT THE SAME TIME THESE ACTIONS HAVE PROTECTED THE VAST MAJORITY OF 350 MILLION AMERICAN CITIZENS.
I vote in favor of protecting American Citizens and too bad about others hurt feelings..........

Maybe this is a way for these “senators” to CYA for their own un-American “activities”. (Remember that trip to Russia, Teddy?)
