This should be a HUGE news story in my part of the country — rural southwestern Virginia — where coal is king. To beat it all, JOE BIDEN was here on SATURDAY proclaiming to be one of us and a “friend of coal.” What a joke!

From Sunday’s Kingsport Times News (9/20/08):

[Virginia’s Democrat Congressman] “Boucher told the crowd he wanted to set the record straight, describing Obama as a “friend of coal” and a “friend of Southwest Virginia.” Offering proof, Boucher pointed to Obama’s 2005 support of the Energy Policy Act, which is designed to “provide funds necessary for electric utilities to install clean coal technologies” to ensure the longevity of the coal industry. And Boucher pointed out that the first place Obama came after his nomination was to Bristol, Va.

If Virginia votes for Obama, Boucher said, Obama will invest money in coal gasification technology that would enable us to further develop clean coal gasification technologies, create a liquid coal to fuel our vehicles, and thus reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign oil.”

Biden is a doofus.

This should be run as an ad in Coal states. This just rams home the idea that Obama and Biden just don’t get it on Energy.

You bet! Run this ad non-stop in Virginia and watch O’s 10 point lead disappear.

Without coal we will only have enough energy to power our abortion clinics.

Obama just said the other day he supports clean coal tech. Part of the con to replace Bin Liden with Hill!

It's been a long time since I've stirred the conspiracy pot, but just for the fun of it, here goes:

1. Back on early in the campaign, Hillary sought and received advice from none other than Karl Rove. That part we know to be true.

2. Perhaps that advice included a "Plan B", in the event that Obama took the nomination. "Plan B", being that if Obama was the nominee, it was in Hillary's interest that Obama should lose in 2008, leaving the field open for Her Highness in 2012.

As part of any consideration about such a scenario, they would have anticipated the possibility of an Obama/Clinton ticket. And such a ticket would have been a very strong one, perhaps cinching Obama's presidency like no other VP pick could. Obviously, for "Plan B" to work, Hillary could not do this.

Now here's where the conspiracy theory pops up. Did Hillary, or Hillary's evil minions, influence Biden's pick, knowing that he was an uncontrollable "loose cannon" who would hurt O'Bammy's credibility?

Let's just say that considering some of the things she's done in the past, I wouldn't consider this too far-fetched.

Thanks for the heads up. I just spoke with the director of media for the UMWA. He heard of the clip but had not seen it. I sent it to him and expect to hear a comment from him.

Biden undermining Obama? Is this how they dump him from the ticket?

Does anyone think this might come up in the VP debate? That is if Biden is still the democratic VP candidate at that time of course.
