Actually it was the NYT, Daily Kos, and the losers at DU that crossed the line.
The skit mocked it and cited it for relevance.
In this skit, they announced they were sending 50 reporters to try to get Palin.
This was one of the suggestions.
Unfortunately, there is no video online as far as I can tell; NBC has had the one briefly on Youtube removed.
I agree. Regardless of what the skit was trying to say about the media’s feeding frenzy, the subject matter was obscene and uncalled for. The line was crossed.
What’s the difference between SNL and the NBC Nightly News?
A set change.
I agree that it sounds to me as if the skit was lampooning the media and its eagerness to throw rumors out there as stories -- especially when it involves a conservative. That said, the idiots that watch SNL would probably assume that the story (about Palin) is true or it wouldn't have been included in the skit.
Good point, if you can replace the bunt of the joke with another sex or race, and it is still funny, then you have a good joke. However, if you replace it with an opposite, and it looks like race of sexism, the the joke is disgusting.
That is unbelievable. Who knew that Saturday Night Live was still on the air?!
In Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, Rule 5: Ridicule is mans most potent weapon. Its hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.
I didn't see the skit, but where's the balance? Why wouldn't they make a skit that shows Obama's family as a bunch of Islamic, bomb-making terrorists?
Sorry...OT......
Is FR a wee slow today, or is it just moi??
Thanks......
You have to wonder why NBC yanked the video off of YouTube so quickly yesterday. And if it was for copyright issues, then why are other SNL skits still out there on YouTube?
Since SNL and the NYT, ARE ON THE SAME SIDE, as Fey admitted in public last night, this supposed debate about who they were mocking is over.
Obviously, they were cloaking the lame criticism about the NYT in order to suggest to the public AGAIN that the Palins are white trash rubes.
Its beyond me why the Right consistently wants to give quarter to our enemies.
Maybe its a compulsion to be with the in crowd, be seen as sophisticated by the masses....who knows...could be like battered wife syndrome.
I believe NBC has an agreement with hulu.com to show SNL skits, so that probably explains why they want to yank the videos from YouTube.
Yeah, it was obviously mocking the liberal, out of touch elitists on the NY Times, yet some people think it put down the Palins...I just don’t get it sometimes!

This site is back up.

Very sick
Isn’t it ironic.....
The voter backlash against the hate filled biased media will INSURE a McCain/Palin win and perhaps 16 years of Palin on the front page - that is going to leave a mark in these liberal lapdogs in the media’s drawers.
Thanks for the phone numbers. Most people have cell service that allows them to make phone calls at no additional charge. I sent them all a message saying... I was upset about the SNL skit and they crossed the line. Middle America is not going to take this type of satatire and let it go. We vote, We spend money and we have a choice and I will choose from now on where to spend my money.
