Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're doing something...
..but why wait several days to do this?...won't everything be erased, cleaned, sanitized, flushed, deleted, etc?????

Nah, ask any forensic computer expert.
Anything can be recovered because nothing’s ever “really” deleted.

The several days was to get the search warrants for whatever servers the hack went thru. It won't really matter what he erased from his hard drive, the site that he used to anonymize his id is turning it all over. Seems they weren't happy with his hacking. little shiest!
