2008 MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL STANDINGS - plus the Yankees suffering through the dreaded HILLARY CURSE

It is almost playoff and World Series time again in Major League Baseball.

Here are the CURRENT STANDINGS and how things are shaping up for the playoffs.

It is not a happy time for the New York Yankees, whose chance of even making the playoffs this year is very, very slim. There is a reason the Yankees have not won the World Series since 2000. It is called THE HILLARY CURSE.

A few years ago, the Boston Red Sox finally broke the CURSE OF THE BAMBINO. The Chicago Cubs are still burdened by the CURSE OF THE BILLY GOAT. We will see how long THE HILLARY CURSE lasts.

You're a very superstitious fellow.

The play of the Yankees has nothing to do with who the Senator's are from NYS.

Boston didn't win a WS for 80+ years because they fielded lousy teams. And their competition was against some great Yankee teams. Boston now has a a first class manager, a solid front office and some fine players. Guess what?... they're winning. Same for the Cubs.

Not superstitious. I just greatly enjoy giving grief to and mocking Hillary.

Reagan Man...that is wishful thinking....

Chamberlain being bounced around was not helpful either, but the Rays pulled out one of those magical seasons that happen in Baseball and he Red Sox’s investments in Beckett paid off.

Yankees were just outclassed this year.

The only thing I’m interested in right now is whether the Cubs will be facing Meyers and Hamel, Santana and the Mets #2, or Lowe and the Dodgers’ #2.

It's really tight between the Mets and Phillies for the NL East and whoever comes in 2nd is going to be in a tight race with the Brewers for the Wild Card. One of those teams is going to end up out in the cold.

Last year it went down to the last game and it might well again this year.

Everyone kept saying the Red Sox were “cursed” during their 86 year drought. They weren’t....they just didn’t have the best pitching during those 86 years.

Two World Series and five playoffs in seven years? Have Hillary come place the same curse on my Kansas City Royals.

The yankees have stopped producing minor league pitching and hitting, they have slid back to signing over priced and underperforming Veterans same as always.>>> PUDGE Giambi had a decent year and he is a goner, Pudge will be outta there, Matsui will probably wind up at first or be put up for sale...what else we looking at? They have real potential in the offseason to pick up some stellar pitching. Joba belongs in the bullpen...RP ONLY....

They say that every year...

Lack of timely hitting, and to be honest, they no longer play small ball, when the Yankees were good Derek Jeter would bunt and they would steal bases and play small ball.

Now, it’s all 3 run Home Runs...that has not worked for 6 years...

To New Yorkers, the Yanks winning the Series is expected. Nothing short of that is acceptable.

Bush didn’t pack a carpetbag, move to New York, and claim he was always a Yankee fan. The Beast did that.

Look. There are two choices to consider. Reality is Wang was injured and the Yankees suffered. OTOH. Wang had 19 win seasons the last two years and was on his way to another 19 win season this year. Basic logic says, if Wang didn’t get injured, he would have come through. We are talking about the ace of the Yankee staff.

So, its more rational thinking, then just wishful thinking. Wishful thinking says, if they bought this slugger and got this ace, then they could have done better. That is BS in my book. I’m working with what the Yankees had available to them. Wang’s injury seriously impacted they’re entire season. Period.

They won the series in 2000 when she was in New York, running for Senate, expressing her undying love of the Yanks. I guess the curse just took a while to kick in, huh?

Shrillery has not only cursed my beloved Yanks, but she has been nothing but curse this state while at it. NY is not the place to be and I do have to laugh that her method of selection to work towards her presidential run didn’t give her the coronation. Of course, there’s always another Demonrat in that party crime family and now we’ll not only suffer with Obama, but that old hag remains Senator. We are on par with Massachussetts and California for worst state.

The day New Yorkers were foolish enough to elect her is when the CURSE kicked in. There would not have been a curse if she had lost the Senate race.

My Cardinals aren’t doing much better. When the 2008 season began, they were on-fire, but they have crumbled. Bummer!
