When my daughter registered to vote at the DMV (department of motor vehicles), she later went to vote in our city elections and was not on the voter rolls. She called the city official in charge of voter registration and she was told that just because you register to vote at the DMV, they don’t have to turn the applications in. WHAT?? So now she has to drive downtown to register in person. I’m just glad that it happened in time to be corrected before the federal election. However we are now stuck with a really bad mayor. I wonder how many people this happened to?

Thanks! Good info to know.

The Sec’y of State (we don’t have a “DMV” in Michigan) and welfare offices do indeed offer, even promote, registering to vote. I’ve been registered to vote since, hmm, my 18th birthday or thereabouts, and have never had any trouble, but then, I live in western Michigan, not Corruptica. :’)
