BusinessWeek Selects 25 year old Hollywood Studio Owner and Cuban Immigrant Carlos Leon as One America's Best Young Entrepreneurs 2008
Los Angeles, CA - BusinesWeek Magazine has selected 25 year old Hollywood Studio Owner Carlos Manuel Leon as one of America's Best Young Entrepreneurs in it's 2008 edition. A media mogul in the making, he is the founder of CML Studios, a full service production facility that shoots music videos, commercials, photos shoots and short films. He built his studio from scratch with the help of friends starting in the summer of 2006 with $25,000 in savings from his first multimedia business he started at age 20.
Carlos Leon emigrated with his parents from Cuba in 1983. He graduated with a degree in Film and Video from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida in 2003 and almost immediately began a production company from scratch. With no resources or funds, he began from the corner of a room in his parents modest mobile home in La Habra, CA what is now a full production multimedia company. This company which began doing web design, video production and marketing now boasts a full Video and Photo production studio in North Hollywood, CA.
Clients from all over country and different parts of the world have used his facility and services including Warner Brothers, Discover Channel, VH1, MTV and Sirius Radio. The studio will be featured on national television next month on a VH1 reality series this fall.
This is the latest venture of the aspiring media mogul who just last year launched his own Spanish online channel from Universal City Walk in Hollywood, CA called Gentevision. The online channel has covered some of the biggest latin celebrities and events. From Los Angeles to Miami including the Oscars, Imagen, MTV and Billboard Awards, it has a variety of hosts and programs currently under production and he plans making it a regionally based network for all of Latin America.
From a very young age, Carlos Leon has shown a knack for media. At 15, he started a Cuban American website portal that got the attention of several publications in Los Angeles and Miami including the Miami Herald. He then went on to launch a Spanish online news website called Oye! Gente that later developed into the full scale online channel he is currently working on.
His future ventures include an even larger production facility and a record label which he is currently seeking investors for. His ultimate goal he says is to create a media conglomerate with assets in various mass media such as television, radio, publishing, movies, and the Internet, all under the CML Media and Entertainment Group corpotate umbrella.
BusinessWeek, founded in 1929, is one of the oldest and most respected financial publications. In its fourth year, the Americas Best Entrepreneurs under 25 list profiles young successful entrepreneurs 25 years and younger. The list was narrowed down from hundreds of submittions by various successful businessmen including Virgin CEO Sir Richard
Branson and their staff. Voting for the top 5 ends on September 22, 2008. Carlos Leon is asking for your vote by visiting his website www.carlosleon.net or by visiting the Small Biz section under Businessweek.com. The top 5 Entrepreneurs under 25 will be announced on September 26, 2008.
