I understand the rough and tumble of politics. But Barack Obama -- the supposedly postpartisan, postracial candidate of hope and change -- has gone where few modern candidates have gone before.
Mr. Obama's campaign is now trafficking in prejudice of its own making. And in doing so, it is playing with political dynamite. What kind of potential president would let his campaign knowingly extract two incomplete, out-of-context lines from two radio parodies and build a framework of hate around them in order to exploit racial tensions? The segregationists of the 1950s and 1960s were famous for such vile fear-mongering.
Here's the relevant part of the Spanish-language television commercial Mr. Obama is running in Hispanic communities:
"They want us to forget the insults we've put up with . . . the intolerance . . . they made us feel marginalized in this country we love so much."
Then the commercial flashes two quotes from me: ". . . stupid and unskilled Mexicans" and "You shut your mouth or you get out!"
And then a voice says, "John McCain and his Republican friends have two faces. One that says lies just to get our vote . . . and another, even worse, that continues the policies of George Bush that put special interests ahead of working families. John McCain . . . more of the same old Republican tricks."
Much of the media that is uninterested in Mr. Obama's connections to unrepentant 1970s Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers and Rev. Jeremiah Wright have so far gone along with the attempt to tie me to Mr. McCain. But Mr. McCain and I have not agreed on how to address illegal immigration. While I am heartened by his willingness to start by securing the borders, it is no secret that we have fundamental differences...

PING
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Does it get any cleverer than the Obama campaign? They might as well be chanting “Bush” endlessly until Nov. 4th.
the supposedly post partisan, post racial candidate of hope and change
Yeah , what happened to this lie :-)))
RIGHT ON! RIGHT ON!
Oba-Mao continues to demonstrate he is a criminal, a fraud and a thug. The last thing he is, is presidential material.....he epitomizes the slime and filth that are the core tactics of the radical left, and sprays the radical leftist socialism in every direction he tries to speak, even without a teleprompter.
Even the low-life Dims could have come up with something better than this street thug communist....God help us.
For the dittoheads on the list, ping!
Could I ask that you add me to your ping list....
Dammed good rebuttal by the godfather!
Good stuff, Checkers. Thanks for posting.
Expect pandering of Hispanics to increase manifold during October. They would run ads relentlessly to remind Hispanics of the conservative opposition that killed amnesty.
The Mccain camp has to come up with a good tactic to counter this.
When Obama is now the candidate of race, he might as well incite it. That’s all he’s got.
I actually see the ‘RAT “unifier” uniting America. I really do! If Obama the Fringe Lefty does get elected, it’s going to get really ugly when he and his boys, Raines and Johnson, start taxing “the rich” and we all end up unemployed. Then, you’re going to see Americans start to “come together” real quick.
Egggselllent!
Obama will regret effing with Rush.
Rush, if somehow you see this.
Many of us WILL be happy to contribute to run a counter ad with the FACTS and truth.
Obama should not get away with this kind of disgusting filth.
Rather than crying over spilt lipstick, how about maybe some ads on a topic that would blow Obama's campaign to smithereens?
Obama's racist, divisive, entirely incorrect ad is like a giant neon sign, blinking "Attack me, win the election" over and over again.
What's that, Team McCain? You're busy? Working on a 'new tone' for the campaign? Well, good luck with that.
Here’s a link to what I ping a lot of people too. That way you can decide for yourself.

Barry has messed with the wrong guy here. Hard to imagine what his campaign people are thinking. Here they have actually made some headway this week accusing McCain of lying in his ads, and they they pull something like this right out of their @ss.
I did hear Paul Begala lamely defending this ad on CNN, saying that McCain now agrees with Rush on immigration reform. But even if that were true, and it isn't, the Rush quotes used in the ad are completely misleading and are deliberately used to fan racial flames with Latino voters.
I love how Rush used jujitsu to point out that this ad uses tactics of the old segregationists. That should have some heads exploding in Chicago.
