Wasn't the FBI, it was Secret Service.

Those men and women are willing to take a bullet to protect those they are assigned to.

One of my brothers best friend served in the secret service under everyone from Nixon to Bush 41.

He is very closed lipped about that time, but did mention once that Carter could smile as he stabbed you in the back.

I used to shoot with a guy who had served on Harry Truman's protection detail in the mid/late-1960's. He always said that Harry was a true gentleman and that his wife, Bess, was one of the sweetest ladies he'd ever had the pleasure of knowing.

BTW, he always outshot me. ;-)
