A new poll by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press reports that independent voters have an equally favorable opinion of both parties, 50 to 49 percent, a one-point edge for the GOP.

I love this sentence. You think if the Democrats had been up 1, it would have read like that? I bet it would have been more like:

...independent voters favor the Democrats by a 50-49 margin.

They have to be. You could tell by the look on pelosi’s face when she was trying to shift the blame onto republicans for the fainance mess.
