LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) - Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain on Thursday called for the firing of Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox. McCain said Cox "serves at the appointment of the President and, in my view, has betrayed the public's trust. If I were President today, I would fire him." End of Story

Umm...wow, some blistering attack if I need to watch a whole video to hear it. That’ll really get the message out...
Wow. Such a strong statement...and I like it!
Ummm.... no. The behavior of the SEC has bordered on criminal negligence. No rules were enforced.
Britian just banned short selling.
If you actually read or watched the statement - instead of just snarking - you would have a different view.
McCain can totally destroy Obama on this issue if he keeps up the line of attack he launched today. He blistered him.
IIRC, this is the same Chris Cox who was a multi-term conservative Congressman from California, with a bright future in GOP politics..
How quickly they fall.
McCain did attack Obama’s cronies for this problem. I think he could have done a better job of it though.
Not sure Cox doesn’t deserve being fired - some bad stuff has happened on his watch - 70 year old rules being reversed to the disadvantage of the general public, etc.
Let the heads start to roll!
Where’s the statement? All I see here is about firing Cox.
You need to get out more.
You seem to believe elections are a personality thing like Carville and the Clintons. But, of course, it's about the policies and their enforcement, or in Cox's case, lack thereof.
Ohhh...the election's about Cox. heh...and you're telling me that I need to get out more...lol
INDECISION #1: Barack Obama “Would Not Say If He Supported Or Opposed” The AIG Bailout...
Yesterday, The Most Important Issue Of The Day Was The AIG Bailout And Barack Obama “Would Not Say If He Supported Or Opposed The Government-Backed Rescue Of Insurance Giant AIG.” Fox News’ Brit Hume: “The Democrat is not coming down one way or another on the AIG rescue. Correspondent Major Garrett explains why.” Fox News’ Major Garrett: “On the biggest financial issue of the day, Barack Obama would not say if he supported or opposed the government-backed rescue of insurance giant AIG.” Barack Obama: “We don’t know all the details of the arrangement with AIG and the Federal Reserve must ensure that plans protect the families that count on insurance.” Garrett: “Obama also wants taxpayers protected but executives and shareholders exposed but on the central question to intervene or not, Obama sidestepped. Advisers said lack of details forced caution. The larger political truth; adv isors believe anxiety alone is enough to lift Obama in the polls. That is why on the trail, Obama doesn’t talk about specifics of the moment but the nation’s overall direction.” (Fox News’ “Special Report,” 9/17/08)
