McCain should write his offer of help down and seal it in an envelope to be opened after he's won the election. The offer would read simply, “Get off your dead-asses and build a relatively small, safe car that get great mileage and doesn't have to make repeated trips back to the dealer every year. Then price it so that everyone who buys one isn't single-handedly financing the retirement of one union employee.”

There, that's the help he should give!

Hey! According to PBS, TR changed the entire course of the office of President! Prior to his tenure, if the constitution was silent on an issue, the President was not empowered to do anything about the issue. (at least that was what everyone thought up to then) Bull Moose Teddy didn't see it that way, in fact he saw just the opposite.

He claimed that if the constitution was silent, there was a vaccuum that the executive could promptly fill with any opinion the President could conjer up!!! Both Roosevelts saw it this way, except cousin Franklin tried to pack the court to cut down on disagreements with this idea!!!

I also saw Teddy's Bullmoose CONvention delegates all singing "Onward Christian Soldiers" at the top of their lungs! One wonders how the Counsel on Arab and Islamic Relations (CAIR) would view THAT these days!!!(or Dems)

Oh! And how come the EnvironMentalists have adopted TR when he murdered both wild animals and especially their habitat with MASSIVE disturbances of nature around the world? Huh???

Both Roosevelts were very bad news and neither of 'em shoulda been on Mt. Rushmore IMO!!!

I'm not familiar with that. When I think of Teddy, I think of his "progressive" period when he and Hiram Johnson were the mavericks of the day. And then there was his alliance with progressives (aka socialists) Amos and Gifford Pinchot, sweeping up millions of acres of private property in the name of Conservation.

Yep... that part, I know. That's where the communista-like Pinchot brothers came in and where I think McCain gets his idea of being in the TR mold. He's had a long history of taking private lands in the name of Conservation (back when his buddy Babbitt was DOI). All of htose shenanigans is why I believe we need a complete house-cleaning in the Dept of the Interior--talk about greed and corruption. That whole place makes Wall Street look like pikers!
