SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) _ Michelle Obama took a break recently from the campaign trail to get her hands messy breading shrimp as she helped prepare a deep-fried dinner with the Food Network's first lady of Southern cooking, Paula Deen.
The wife of Democrat Barack Obama got cozy with Deen in the kitchen during a recent taping of the Savannah celebrity cook's TV show "Paula's Party," scheduled to air on the cable network Sept. 20.
Michelle Obama and Deen swapped stories about their families' favorite meals as they cooked fried shrimp and french fries at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., where the network converted a cafeteria into a TV kitchen.
"She was getting her hands dirty," Deen said in an interview Friday. "I think they are like us they like real food, not a bunch of prissy food."
Obama told Deen her husband's personal favorite is a steaming bowl of chili, and the first meal she ever cooked for him was a seafood gumbo. Deen, one of the Food Network's biggest stars, traveled to Norfolk for the taping three weeks ago.

I won’t be watching that show, y’all.

Read the entire article. She’s also invited Sarah Palin and The McCains to be on her show. Honestly, I doubt that Paula Deen’s audience is a bunch of liberals.

Paula Dean is overrated anyway. She takes your heart-clogging comfort food recipe and then makes it even more heart-clogging purely for the shock value. She does not care about the taste at all--just about shocking you.
I submit this recipe as evidence.

Paula Deen must like her fried shrimp and french fries. The woman has a bread pudding recipe that uses glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme. She must have a high metabolism, otherwise she'd look like Paul Prudhomme by now.

Not surprising as he is trying to sell a steaming pile to America. For their sake, I do hope that they managed to edit out the parts where Michelle calls her "Paula Dean Saltine".

I disagree. That was the EXCUSE that the Presidencial Candidates wife, Michelle Obama, used for NOT showing up with her husband at the 9/11 event, although the Republican candidate and his wife was there.

“..isnt it amazing Michelle Obama has time to cook but NO TIME to go to the 9/11 event!!!!!”
She didn’t feel too particularly proud of her country on that day.
