Yesterday morning, I had the honor of testifying before the House Budget Committee on the situation in Iraq. The discussion was polite and civilized, and was a reminder that even now it is possible for people who disagree about what to do in Iraq to argue without raised voices and disagreeable language (apart from the Code Pink women, yelling for those who think that shouting opponents down is preferable to arguing with them). Congressman Brian Baird once again demonstrated that it is possible even for those who bitterly opposed the war to recognize the importance of doing the right thing now--as well as the possibility of crossing the Republican-Democrat sectarian divide on this issue. One question came up repeatedly in the hearing that deserves more of an answer than it got, however: Why, after all the assistance we've given to Iraq over the past five years, was the first major Iraqi oil deal signed with China and not with an American or even a western company? The answer is, in part, because three Democratic senators intervened in Iraqi domestic politics earlier this year to prevent Iraq from signing short-term agreements with Exxon Mobil, Shell, Total, Chevron, and BP.
The Iraqi government was poised to sign no-bid contracts with those firms this summer to help make immediate and needed improvements in Iraq's oil infrastructure. The result would have been significant foreign investment in Iraq, an expansion of Iraqi government revenues, and an increase in the global supply of oil. One would have thought that leading Democratic senators who claim to be interested in finding other sources of funding to replace American dollars in Iraq, in helping Iraq spend its own money on its own people, and in lowering the price of gasoline for American citizens, would have been all for it.

traitors
That’s ok. they’ll only be re-eleted over and over and over...
Run Ads.
During the 2012 election campaign, Dems and the media will be screaming about this. Headlines will read “Why did Pres. McCain allow China to steal Iraqi oil” and “Did VP Palin make secret deal with the Chinese?”
unbelievable...and yet I have no difficulty believing Kerry and Shumer’s efforts would benefit Communist China instead of the taxpayers of the USA
Bet there is financial benefit to Kerry and Schumer from China. This is absurd.
This makes my gut hurt and my head pound. How dare those idiot legislators punish their own country? Chinese laughing over the grave of our soldiers.
I’ve always considered Senator John Forbes Kerry to be an arrogant, ignorant occupier of otherwise valuable floorspace on our planet. Never in my wildest nightmares did I ever imagine him to be so totally out of touch with economic and geo-political realities. He wastes five years of expensive US effort to develop goodwill in Iraq by intruding upon their domestic political scene and attempting to impose some idiotic requirement for hydrocarbon legislation before the US will deign to purchase Iraqi oil. He apparently prefers that we continue purchasing from Venezuela.
Just mind-boggling. I’m only grateful that he is not our president.
Yawn ... Stretch ... Yawn again ...
So what? I’ve become immune to reports of Democrats, highly placed Democrats, doing all sorts of things that run counter to the interest of America. Face it, if they are so treasonous as to publicly and proudly vote to deny funding to troops under fire why would they hesitate to interfere in the awarding of contracts in favor of an enemy and to the detriment of American companies who would do a better job at a better price?
Someone give me a call when America is ready to once again stand up for itself and ready to remind the world at every turn that WE are the greatest nation on God’s green Earth and the rest of the world is lucky to have a people as good as the Americans to go to bat for them.
There are no words or phrases to adequately express my hatred for the Lefties/MSM who seemed to have reached the point that they feel no danger in openly working to harm the US. I know hate is certainly not one of the Fruits of the Spirit, but the Bible is very clear when it says there is “a time to hate!”
bump for later use...
John Kerry's Chinese campaign connections
Selling Out Democracy: Kerry's China Connection
Not sure what Schmucky's deal is, he's usually hard on China.
Maybe Schumer’s seeking out a new source of revenue. Or maybe he’s giving Kerry cover.

Reports like this simply make my blood boil.
Outrageous.
