I’ve read that he was a very average undergrad student (”C’s” & ‘B’s”) and wouldn’t have gotten his law review position based on his grades at Harvard. (he got it because they had recently changed the requirements to allow more diversity)
So who started the rumor about him being so smart and when will it be debunked?

Never, we still have people ranting about what geniuses Gore and Kerry are. According to the Dims anyone with a D after his name is a genius even if he thinks two plus two equals twenty two.
They keep saying he graduated at the top of his class at Harvard.
I presume they have provided evidence for this, and I would think you’d have to have some ability to beat out all the other people at Harvard.
Of course, this is grad school. At the time, did a lot of Harvard grad students get A’s? How do you get to be the “top” of a grad class?
