John McCain has taken a modest lead over Barack Obama in Colorado this week. The latest Fox News/Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds the Republican on top 48% to 46% (crosstabs available for Premium Members).

From Rasmussen no less. Hehehehehe.

Wow, anyone playing with EC map on RCP knows this is HUGE.
I didn't realize that Colorado had seceded and become a republic.
Wow, if this correct, this is truly good news!
FWIW, I never truly thought that we had a 7% lead in Ohio. But I suspect we have slightly more than a 3% lead though. This is looking pretty good - we just need to shore up Virginia, and keep the pressure on in Ohio and Colorado. Pennsylvania is now our best pickup opportunity.
Thank you Ja-heee-zus.
Virginia is driving me crazy. I don’t know why we can’t put Obama away here. I don’t want to be in a swing state. I wish I lived in a state that was comfortably for Republicans.
Damn Virginia. Like plugging a dike. No sooner do we get one hole fixed than another one spouts open.

Looking good...
I dont want to be in a swing state. I wish I lived in a state that was comfortably for Republicans.

Well, Charles, we are in a swing state...and guess what? We both need to get down to the polls (I live in Alexandria) and vote! Get your neighbors, your friends, your relatives and everyone you know who will vote for McCain to the polls....
This is a great burst of polling.
It really looks like FL will not emerge as a true battleground. It will join MO as a state that whil within striking distance is just too far a bridge for Obama to cross. If you had told someone awhile back that FL and MO would be safely in the GOP camp that would be quite the cout.
OH seems like it is now leaning heavilly towards McCain. More than MI/PA are leaning towards Obama. I think Mac has been up in something like 7/8 OH polls now and a big chunk show it is by 4. Very good development. With the historic GOP bend of the state looks very good.
VA is a serious problem though. SUSA having Obama up 4 is VERY concerning as I trust SUSA a lot. A tie here confirms were in trouble in VA. I heard not too long ago Mac was only up around northern VA with ads. This isn’t an Obama headfake. VA is a battleground and Mac needs an OH type operation there.
I know there is statistical noise but VA down 4 or tied while NY down 6 or whatever (obvious outlier) and MN down 2 over a couple of polls? Is McCain really polling as well in MN, WA, MI, PA as he is in VA? I don’t see how VA swings well overperforming Bush in 04 to well underperforming for McCain in 08. Especially since McCain fits the state rather well in the Warner sense. Older, moderate, military man etc.
I was thinking after the convention we would see it start to turn more red as we have seen with NC, MT, the dakotas etc. But it looks like it is holding as a battleground.
CO is the best news in this poll for Mac but VA officially scares me now.
agreed....from a conservative look at the map, if McCain wins Ohio, Viginia and Nevada he needs Colorado to push him over the top....
Iowa is gone- hussien is in bed with the corn lobby and McCain made the right choice saying he would not subsidise farmers and now won’t get the vote in that state....
It is about time, and a McCain lead in that part of the country is much more rational. It’s nice to read about PA and NY supposedly being within reach, but I hope the McCain campaign does not fall for red herrings and waste campaign resources in states that are likely to end up blue anyway due to vote fraud. Barring any seismic shifts in our favor, let’s get to 270 and take anything on top as gravy.
I hear you.
Exactly right. Cede Iowa this time around, win the west, win OH, win NH, and win the election.
