CO, NM and PA. Those will all go to McCain.

I still say, we will take California when it is all said and done.

Things here are looking more like a RED state. I do not see the bumper stickers I saw earlier in the year. Not getting the same looks while driving around with my McCain/Palin signs in the windows and on the bumper.

“McCain will pick up PA, based on the dramatic shift in Dem attitudes I’ve witnessed in the Pittsburgh area alone.”

Head into Oakland (I mean right smack dab in the campuses of Pitt and CMU) or parts of South Side and you’ll encounter that same old attitude you’ve known and loved :-)! A friend of mine was about to go postal on two “manly women” working at a one of those used game/CD/DVD stores that were trashing Gov. Palin out lout (it lost them some sales). That’s what I always did when I worked a cash register while in college....trash a VP candidate out loud....sheesh.

However, I have to agree, outside of the liberal areas, I like what I am seeing around here...I am hearing a lot from people who always vote Rat that are a hell of a lot more comfortable voting for McCain. I’m starting to see a lot of McCain signs pop up here in Brentwood and Baldwin (they’ve been trending dem recently) as well as other places like West Mifflin and Jefferson. I’m not talking about the more affluent parts of these towns either...

I have another kook conspiracy theory....I think Rendell is grooming Onarato to be the next governor...having a Soviet president won’t stand very well here in PA overall and there could be some significant backlash. Rendell’s ego would be bruised if a Repub. was elected in 2010, so I think that’s why his support for Obama has been tepid....he’s gonna be relying on those casino kickbacks too :-)!

For those fortunate to be out of the Pittsburgh area, Dan Onarato is our county executive with an affinity for bailing out our transit system by jacking up taxes on alcohol (he threatened to raise property taxes even higher if that wasn’t passed) despite our glorious casino-in-the-works being a cure all for Pittsburgh’s ailments. I will give him a little bit of credit...he’s more of the “Blue Dog” mold of Dem. vs. the Soviet ones we’re seeing these days.

We’ll see what happens. If Obama cannot get the campus vote out to the polls, the fraud margin might not be enough here in Allegheny County thanks to all of those glorius areas like Hazelwood, Rankin, Homewood, and my personal favorite, Duquesne. By no means will McCain win Allegheny Cty., but he might be able to flip enough votes here to help flip the state.

Sorry for all of the rambling :-)!

Weird that Rove isn’t in McCain’s corner. He could never be nice enough to a liberal for them not to hate him. Or is he doing McCain a favor by staying distant because of the connection liberals try to make for a “3rd Bush term”

I don't know if the bumper sticker/yard sign test is a true measure of anyone's intent to vote. This year, especially, as many McCain/Palin voters aren't going to admit it.

That said, I think we have as much chance of winning CA as we do of taking my state of MD. ;-)

Not an Iowan, but McCain does not like farm and ethanol subsidies.

Weird that Rove isn’t in McCain’s corner.

I'd love to see Rove come out blast McCain for not being committed to preserving the Bush Legacy.

That might spin the RAT's heads completely out of socket.

I am no fan of Rove, I think he is responsible for the support of big spending by the GOP in congress and the OPEN BORDERS disaster. BTW- if Juanito wins, he is going to have to be beat silly to not go there again...

Rove had better worry. The Obama cabal wants to prosecute Rove and Cheney for war crimes.

There is a possiblilty that we could get 1 EV from maine. (they do theirs by 2 to the state winner and 1 to each congressional district).

That would be a 269-269 tie.

Then it goes to the house of rep where each state delegation gets one vote. Hard to tell who has more states.

It could go to 25-25. DC does not count I think.

Plus the senate elects the VP separately. We could get Obama-Palin or McCain Biden in office.

The RATs control more delegations.

McCain needs 270 in order to win. Obama gets in with 269.

McCain can get New Mexico; when I am out and about I don’t hear much support for Obama. In the past the key for Republican presidential candidates to win NM is to get out the vote. The Dims carry NM when the conservatives stay home, so McCain/Palin need to work on getting conservatives here fired up.

I applaud your enthusiasm, but I think you’re being naive.

No way will McCain/Palin take CA. I wish, but no way.

On the other hand... I travel to CA pretty often (I’m there right now). In my humble opinion, based on interactions with my associates out here, Obamamania has lost some of its enthusiasm since the primaries were held.

The best I can explain it: before the convention, they were head over heels in love with the guy. Now, well, they’re still for him... but they’re a little confused as to exactly why.

“Iowa voted for Dukakis in 1988, Clinton twice and Gore in 2000. It was never a Red state.”

That should make it official then, it should be in the GOP Plank that we end ethanol subsidies and there Caucii should be held 1 week prior to the Primary lol.

Hmmm...If that is the case then the Dakotas should be a lot bluer than normal also. Dakota polls from earlier in the summer did show this, but recent Dakota polls show the voters returning to reason. Possibly the Palin effect -- but if so why not in Iowa?

I'm basing my opinion on white blue-collar folks in North Hills... carpenters, plumbers, school teachers, nurses, even ex-union officials that I know... most of them are registered Dems and six months ago were doing nothing but Bush-bashing. Now they are can be heard singing McCain-Palin praises, and I don't see any Obama signs or bumper stickers, anywhere. That's a BIG change up this way.

If Allegheny Cty can elect Jim Roddy commissioner, it can sure as heck elect a couple of perceived mavericks on the national ticket, especially at a time when Onarato is slipping in popularity locally.

Glad to make your acquaintance, maybe we'll cross paths at an upcoming rally.

” I’m basing my opinion on white blue-collar folks in North Hills... “

Heh heh....I am a South Hills guy myself...born and raised here. I used to work up in Cranberry (Fore Systems, then Marconi, now Ericsson)...I’ve always wondered why the North swings the way it does...towns like Avalon and the like are seeing a decent resurgance and areas like Cranberry should be solid red...frustrating.

“If Allegheny Cty can elect Jim Roddy commissioner, it can sure as heck elect a couple of perceived mavericks on the national ticket, especially at a time when Onarato is slipping in popularity locally.”

Onarato is only suffering due to that drink tax...and, quite frankly, sin taxes are safe havens for these people. It’ll be forgotten in no time. I seriously feel that he’s being groomed for succession after 2010 and an Obama presidency will hurt that. If Rendell doesn’t have control @ the executive level here in PA, his slot kickbacks aren’t going to be what he’s banking on....I know that’s all tin foil nonsense, but just look at how that whole casino thing was handled.

“Glad to make your acquaintance, maybe we’ll cross paths at an upcoming rally.”

Likewise :-)!!!! I’m usually working 24/7 these days as I have a full time job + do a lot of contract work (this crummy economy sure as hell isn’t causing a lack of work here for me). I really want to get out and see McCain/Palin if they are in the area though :-)!

I have to admit I am fed up with Pittsburgh, but man what this place could be if we’d get rid of the corruption.

Rasmussen poll shows McCain now up by 2 points in CO and Nevada. Very good sign things are moving in our direction.
