Prediction: Pelousy will be replaced in January as Speaker.
Beyond the issue of price, supporters see offshore wells as a way of ensuring that our nation would have greater economic independence from foreign nations. McCain says offshore drilling would be a way to stop sending $700 billion a year (for oil) to countries that don't like us very much.

Both parties??? Since when have the Republicans been cold on this issue? It should say, Democrats starting to budge, with strings attached.

RATS becoming nervous? They smell fear because the American people are fed up with their BS.

drilling offshore in the gulf and Atlantic is less appealing than drilling in Alaska. Hurricanes wouldn’t shut down most of our refineries if we had more assets in Alaska, and there would be less inclination for oil companies and speculators to gouge us every time the wind blows.

The democrats are a “jump on the bandwagon” kind of party. They wait to see where the public at large is heading to determine their “stance”. Of course, they have to throw in a little protest, so it doesn’t look like they are the “wussies” giving in, but eventually, they cave. Leaders, they are NOT!

So the Obama’s pig reference is okay now? Just political silliness?
Okay.
Then let's all ask Obama to stop playing monkey see, monkey do with Republican policies like tax cuts and offshore drilling.

Bush was ready 7 years ago when he submitted an energy bill.
Democrats blocked its passage; they are to blame.
The authior is trying to make it sound like both parties are equally to blame.

right.
Why settle for a bad bill now, when we’ll be able to pass the real deal in January?
To: kellynla
What else should be hammered home is the many jobs produced by exploration, drilling, transporting, refining, etc. It’s a win/win situation all around. I just don’t get all of the resistance.

In the Democratic plan, who will be allowed to drill between 12 and 50 miles off the US coast? Only Russia and China?

Fifty miles off our coast in Southwest Fla. in the GOM it’s only 50 feet deep, think about it, crude oil in shallow water, quickly. Makes sense.
