As a conservative, I can not stress how excited I was by Sarah's selection. It was brilliant on SO MANY levels!!! I would like to list some below.
1. If the left brings up her supposed inexperience then the discussion goes right back to his Obama's lack of experience.(142 days in the senate before starting to run for the presidency)
2. Her being a woman not only brings in a demographic that Mccain was struggling and Obama performing well with but also attracts some of the disenfranchised Hillary voters.
3. Her strong religious beliefs does two things. It ignites and excites the evangelical base getting them more involved in the grass roots effort in the campaign. This ALSO allows any ridicule(i.e. Matt Damon's dinosaurs)of her beliefs/church to again evoke discussions of Reverend Wright and Obama's church without seeming to be hammering on an old subject.
4. Mccain/Republican strong prolife position is softened by having a woman with a strong belief in that. She has proclaimed this belief NOT ONLY in words but deeds. For many years the feminist subtext of this argument has been 'old white men subjugating their will onto women' to the point of controlling their bodies and reproduction. NOW we have this attractive, content, ambitious and highly successful mother with a gorgeous family who JOYOUSLY embraces this philosophy. Of all the things about Sarah that scares and has driven the left into a feeding frenzy, I believe this is the underlying reason for most of their attacks!! (i.e. these prolifers are not all out of the mainstream AND do not all look like that Texas pologamy cult)
5. Her change creds are so unbelievably strong that any parsing of her record seems like nitpicking. Earmarks? Small town mayor hires lobbying firm to get 27 million for her city!!! AHEM... B. Obama....960 million in last two years! Can someone please look into Biden's earmark record? Again we have the four fingers are pointing back at you effect of adding Sarah to the ticket. Any way you look at the bridge to nowhere it is just that...nowhere,,,by deed of Sarah P!!!
What has Obama accomplished change wise? From going to tax to waiting to tax, from taking matching federal election matching funds to not taking federal election matching funds and from meeting leaders of rogue states without preconditions to meeting leaders of rogue states with 'some' preconditions to mention a few. Change for obama evolves from a wet index finger held in the political wind rather then from firmly held personal beliefs and an internal moral compass.
6. Her family sees Obama's and raises it by three more kids Who DID NOT go to a private academy but public schools!! They even...gasp...have the same kind of problems that most families have!!!(messy sibling divorces, pregnant teen daughters, and special needs children) Why she even makes supper for her family so there will be no illegal nannies on her payroll to pillory her with.
7.She trumps Obama's newness creds which has become old after running for the last two years. Odds are that the American people's will not tire of Sarah in the last two months of the campaign. I know I sure won't!!
8. Son is stationed in Iraq. Enough said!!!
9. No foreign policy experience?? Hey Obama, talking to the Pakistani behind the counter at your local 7/11 DOES NOT mean you have more foreign policy experience then Sarah P!!! Er...OH...That is right ... your European Tour! Accomplishing what? Self aggrandizement? Ego inflation? Glad handing Europe's political elite, mostly conservative by the way, hardly qualifies as the type of foreign policy experience we need in this time of crisis.
Alas, if time permitted, I could go on for quite awhile however I would just like to state my own reaction to her. Simply...I can NOT get enough of this fascinating and exciting person. I want to know it all!!! I am proud to know that she is part of, not just to a party that I usually support but especially my ideology of conservatism. She is the embodiment of all I believe. Her extraordinary success is validation of my beliefs on both a political and moral level. Culminating in a Horatio Alger like story and amazing personal journey from stay at home mom to save the state mom is a fantastic tale.
Finally, at the risk of sounding sexist and, as my significant other adds every time I talk about Sarah Palin, AND she is hot!! I would like to put this in perspective and attempt to make this statement political.
Is she classically beautiful...externally no. Her 'hotness' comes out of the inner beauty of character and strength. It is an approachable beauty that stems not from a Balley's body with an assist from a syringe of Botox.(have you seen Hillary lately??) As a man, to me she is evocative of that friends' mom that every adolescent male has had a crush upon on their journey into adulthood. Attractive, earthy, and funny and a source of envy of that friend. This 'hotness' stems from a feeling that she would tackle a grizzly bear with wet sponge if anything threatened hers and is a friend, equal partner, and devoted lover to her husband.(er...well at least prolific judging from the evidence)
Thank You John Mccain for bringing this special person into my world and giving hope to the future.

John McCain put the conservatives back in charge of the party. That is exactly the opposite of his 2000 campaign, when McCain had Redman running things trying to cut social conservatives out of the party.

For the first time in its history, Japan is now looking at the possibility of a female prime minister: our former defense minister, Yuriko Koike. Why not Palin for the U.S.?
If they're qualified, gender is irrelevant.

With all that in mind, if Obama tries to bring in Hillary, it will show he is really hurting. I don’t think Hillary will go for it because the Clinton’s don’t like to be associated with a looser and it may hurt her desires to run in the future. Gov. Palin is the best thing that has happened to this country in a long time. You gotta love Pit Bulls now.

Gender can be a plus.

You forget her appeal to the libertarian-small constitutional government-Republican and independent. The left seems to think independents are middle of the road. In my neck of the woods, they are folks who are disgusted with the corruption, big government and regulation coming from both parties in DC. They are more likely conservatives. They are also the swing vote.
She also has appeal to the disenfranchised small town and rural voter who see Palin as a knowing representative who understands their perspective.
She also has appeal to young women who rally behind her as a glass celing breaker for their generation.

I can only repeat my initial reaction when her choice as VP was announced.
And that was before the complete Sarah Palin was defined.
What a stroke of genius!

Another stupidity was that mantra that Jesus was a community organizer and Pilate a governor. The libs don’t even realize how offensive that is to Christians. Brokaw repeated it again today on Press the Meat, seeming to think is was clever.

To which our reply should be; “As much as Obama and the Obamatons would like to think so, he ain’t no Jesus Christ”.

If we were to count when Obama started going down hill, it was the World Tour. Obama basically acknowledged his the weakness that McCain been hammering him for a long time about his lack of experience and the media thought going on a holiday tour around the world = foreign policy experience
