During tonights 60’s music telethon on PBS (to raise money for PBS coffers), Vicki Lawrence from the old “Carol Burnett” TV show appeared as her character from “Mama’s Family.”
While in character, she urged people to send in money for PBS, and as her face went off camera, she quickly came back in front of the lense and wispered,
“You can put lipstick on a jerk, it’s still a jerk.”
I wanted to smash the TV.

Well, she could have been referring to 0bama...or Charlie Gibson....or any other man who has had the appearance of being sexist lately....or even all of them!
I know that feeling. I had flipped passed the golf channel and some commentator picked on a woman, perhaps a player, for know "Sarah" but not Joe Biden! He sneered to his cohost, "Do you think she's a Republican?"
I notice a lot of this sort of thing online where it doesn't matter how far afield the article topic is, it will contain at least one gushing remark about Obama and two caustic, snide remarks about McCain or Palin. I grit my teeth. Sometimes I complain, but often I'm overwhelmed how far beyond the pale they will go and can only just shake my head and walk away in exasperation.
