Obama spent the six years between 1979 and 1985 in Los Angeles at Occidental College and then in New York at Columbia University and in the workplace. His memoir, "Dreams From My Father," talks about this time but not in great detail; Siddiqi, for example, is identified only as "Sadik" "a short, well-built Pakistani" who smoked marijuana, snorted cocaine and liked to party.
Obama's campaign wouldn't identify "Sadik," but The Associated Press located him in Seattle, where he raises money for a community theater.
Together, the recollections of Siddiqi and other friends and acquaintances from Obama's college years paint a portrait of the candidate as a young man.
They remember a good student with a sharp mind and unshakable integrity, a young man who already had a passion for the underprivileged. Some described the young Obama's personality as confident to the point of arrogance, a criticism that would emerge decades later, during the campaign.
Not everyone who knew Obama in those years is eager to talk.

He had at least seven different residences when he was in New York. I find that strange.
Was his friend at Occidental connected with high powers in Pakistan? Or did he take a second trip as State Senator? If so, why is there no record of it?
I went to Indiana University in the 1980s and there were quite a few muslim students there, a few of whom I befriended. But by and large, they were a clique as you might imagine. What is the likelihood that this "multicultural" group of Obama's included any Jewish people, or for that matter, any Christians? In fact, by their names, they were all muslim.
The article talks about the alleged poverty of Obama while going to Columbia...is that supposed to be a joke? He was either bankrolled or on a scholarship. There's no mention of him working (I worked my way through college; there was not enough money available in student loans to pay full out of state tuition at IU; there cannot possibly have been enough for Columbia). So who paid his tuition and rent? If he was not bankrolled by someone, how did he make the rent payments?
It is utterly incredible that we have so little information about the "Lost Years" of Obama--a period of his life that for any other person would be considered among the most formative. What we do know is close ties to a number of Pakistanis (nothing wrong with that), all of whom are well-connected to the ruling class and all of whom apparently have done quite well for themselves--in strange contrast to the self-proclaimed poverty of Obama.
McCain may be reluctant to release what by all accounts would be a lackluster transcript from Annapolis, but at least we have numerous accounts, eyewitnesses, etc...and that was over 40 years ago and all the worlds knows what he became.
I can easily produce a list of my friends from college, my employers, etc. and I graduated in 1986. It's not ancient history. What the hell is going on with this country? What the hell is going on with the media? How can the biggest "vetting" debacle of all time have taken place in full view of the public for the last four years? God help us all.

Damn, how many colleges did Barry attend? Or how many does he remember?
7 addresses are odd.
I’d just like to know of his “6 years” at Occidental and Columbia, how many were at which place? Also, why 6 years to get a BA? In his own book he identified a guy who was a convicted for drugs. Corsi said the guy called him and Obama blew him off as a person who could no longer help him. He won’t blow off scum like Rezko or Wright so long as they are useful to him.
Me too. He also took six years to finish college; so much for that criticism of Palin.
Hey, hey! Sounds like a 50s Pravda bio on Uncle Joe.
Root: Class of '83 political science, pre-law Columbia University. You don't get more exact than that. Never met him in my life, don't know anyone who ever met him. At the class reunion, our 20th reunion five years ago, 20th reunion, who was asked to be the speaker of the class? Me. No one ever heard of Barack! Who was he, and five years ago, nobody even knew who he was.
Just to follow up; Obama claims to have visited Pakistan as a leg of a journey to visit his mother, apparently still in Indonesia (does anyone have any idea how expensive such a trip would have been, btw?). Only problem is, he took this trip in 1981. Pakistan was under martial law from 1977 to 1984 and was not a place for tourists, although, of course, the US was providing funds and weapons to Pakistan that were being funnelled to the the Mujahedeen (a/k/a “Charlie Wilson’s War”). It is pretty unlikely that Obama was a covert operative working for some military advisors, so what the hell was he doing in Pakistan at the height of the Afghan War, while the mujahedeen and bin Laden were operating out of Pakistan?
I have heard, but not confirmed, that Pakistan under Zia was not allowing foreign tourists unless they were muslim or under state sponsorship. Can anyone confirm this? When Obama was in Karachi, did he register with the US Consulate in that City?
That's what I thought it said too until I re-read this sentence:
"Obama spent the six years between 1979 and 1985 in Los Angeles at Occidental College and then in New York at Columbia University and in the workplace."
In a story headlined "Obama's mother stayed in Pakistan for five years", leading Urdu newspaper Daily Waqt reported that Dunham was hired as a consultant by the Asian Development Bank and travelled often from Lahore to Gujranwala. "Ann Dunham lived in Pakistan for five years. During this time, Barack Obama also visited his mother and stayed for a few months. Ann Dunham was hired as a consultant by the Asian Development Bank for Pakistan's Agricultural Development Bank's Gujranwala Agricultural Development Programme. This programme began in 1987 and ended in 1992," the report said.
See #32. Poorly written sentence. Apparently Obama graduated from Columbia in 1983, so the six years includes two more working in New York.
Can’t let this one die. The Obama’s Friends article is several months old, but apparently slipped under the radar (I’m sure someone here caught it). The Lost Years of Obama were discussed in the WSJ a couple days ago, and as we come down the stretch—especially if they go after Palin’s college years—something will have to give. I personally think it will be something shocking. I am not hoping for that, actually, because as much as I hate the guy, I’d hate even more the possibility that this Country has gone completely bonkers and let someone with such a nefarious past get so close to the White House.
Sounds like the type of person who doesn’t have their own place so they are always “can I crash at your place for a while”. Either that or he was a crappy roommate so he got booted around.
In 1981, Obama transferred from Occidental to Columbia. In between, he traveled to Pakistan a trip that enhanced his foreign policy qualifications, he maintained in a private speech at a San Francisco fundraiser last month. Obama spent "about three weeks" in Pakistan, traveling with Hamid and staying in Karachi with Chandoo's family, said Bill Burton, Obama's press secretary.
Karachi raises huge red flags: it is a major center for Islamic extremism, and was perhaps the most important center for Islamic terrorism.
What the dickens is Senator Obama doing in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1981?
Why won't the MSM ask even a single question of Senator Obama about this sojourn in a most unlikely city? A man running for President of the United States goes to a most unlikely city, and the press find nothing curious? But they descend en masse on Wasilla, Alaska, and write stories about Governor Palin's hairdresser?
Dang I just realized Obambi was in NYC at the same time as me, and that he lived on the upper west side for a time. I could have passed him on the street.
The slogan for Mccain Palin should be:
“Better Safe Than Sorry”
This is a phrase everyone in the USA can relate to as we have all heard it many times in our lives.
McCain = Safe
UhBama = Sorry /obvious
His lack of (known) life-long friends is odd, too. And nobody wants to come forward and say that he and Barak were good buddies at anytime in his life. He can’t even get most of the people he worked with or lived near to speak up for him. I’m not perfect, but I wouldn’t be afraid of letting the press talk to any of my blood brothers. How come he ain’t got no friends?
