Those “railroad ties” of yours are made of steel and are anchored by a concrete base that goes down into the ground 10 or 12 feet. It is called a Normandy barrier because it was designed to turn back tanks.It is built in places where the Border Patrol’s primary concern is vehicles bringing drugs, not foot traffic. I notice the guy who talked to the border chief doesn’t give the border chief’s name. Hmmmm. Could it be he made it all up? Could it be that no matter what anyone does, it isn’t good enough, because you are so much smarter than the rest of us? I don’t know about the mileage. But at least someone is doing something, someone is trying to accomplish something, while other people just sit back and bitch.

...Although the authority of the secretary of Homeland Security to build a fence along the border has not been rescinded, it has been made clear that most of the new fence will be single-layered and extend no more than 370 miles. During the past year, for instance, only 77 miles of fencing has been built, of which five miles is double-layered.
