So much for nuance, or elevating the dialogue.
Locked in a political death match with 52 days to live, the presidential campaigns went nuclear on what looked to be a quiet Saturday, with stumping curtailed because of Hurricane Ike's catastrophic overnight hit on Houston.
Sen. Barack Obama's national press secretary, Bill Burton, accused Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) of "cynically running the sleaziest and least honorable campaign in modern presidential campaign history. His discredited ads with disgusting lies are running all over the country today. He runs a campaign not worthy of the office his is seeking."
That was prompted by a McCain campaign statement about remarks Obama (D-Ill.) made in Manchester, N.H., on Saturday morning.
McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds thundered by e-mail: "During the event, Barack Obama showed zero restraint in the ferocity of his attacks despite the wreckage in the gulf and his running mates cancellation in reaction to it.
"It says a lot about Barack Obamas judgment that while his campaign canceled his appearance on 'Saturday Night Live' and his running mate stayed home, Obama went ahead and delivered a series of scathing personal attacks. Todays attacks mark a new low from Barack Obama.
No argument.
Politico is trash. Locked in a 52 day death match? Burton is a steaming pile of DS.
Can they enumerate these or are they still trying to put lipstick on their pig?
Disgusting lies=The Truth about Obama!
Axelrod has invested much of his life into molding Obama into the candidate. His brain is being fried now on how stupid he must have been to have wasted all this time, money, associations, and political intrigue on Obama. The adulation went to Obama’s head. He now really thinks he is what Axelrod wanted all to believe and is beginning to speak out on his own without the Axelrod script. And we all are seeing just how well that is working.
I guess Obama doesn’t consider this to be negative?

The Obama Changemobile has a broken Axelrod!
Isn’t there a picture of 0be standing next to Carter somewhere? Kerry? Gore?

More LIES from the campaign that brought us the personal attack on John McCain’s war injuries. Incredible.

LOL, I should add: are you guys still burnt that your candidate supported a sex-ed program for kindergarteners!!
LOL
I want one of those bumper stickers...is it original or can you purchase it?

The projection is astounding.
McCain does’t really have to do anything.... Biden has been the most damaging...... Hillary is a better candidate says it all.
New lows were obained by Obama making fun of McCain for being unable to use a keyboard. That is one that should never die.
The more outrageous and uncivilized the Obama campaign becomes the more they lose credibility. They appear to be incapable of reversing their suicidal plummet. McCain is a genius.
