Some Advice for Sarah Palin
Townhall.com ^ | September 13, 2008 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 09/12/2008 10:05:25 PM PDT by Kaslin

A new Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll says that 50 percent of Americans believe John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin was the most effective pick in the campaign; 40 percent say Barack Obama's selection of Joe Biden was the smarter choice. That confirms the prevailing wisdom that Gov. Palin is dramatically helping McCain's chances of becoming president.

Going forward, Palin must consolidate her initial gains, and it will not be easy. First of all, the tabloid press is all over Alaska looking for dirt on Palin, and you can bet they'll come up with something. No human being is perfect. And then there's the mainstream media, which took a beating last week after trying to marginalize Palin as some kind of country bumpkin, a religious fanatic not fit to serve. The personal attacks against Palin and her family angered millions of Americans and, almost instantly, made the governor a folk hero in some circles.

Of course, that infuriated the establishment press, which doesn't like getting pounded in the court of public opinion. So you can take it to the bank that many left-leaning media members are lying in wait.

But Palin has some skills that can protect her against the inevitable attacks. She is a natural performer -- the TV camera loves the woman. She is also a plainspoken American who connects emotionally with the folks. Therefore, she can set her own agenda. As Ronald Reagan once did, she can go directly to the people and around the press.

If I were advising Palin, I would have had her defend Obama in the lipstick/pig incident. If Palin would have stated that she doesn't believe the senator would compare her to a pig, it would have been a compassionate gesture. Folks love compassion. Giving Obama the benefit of the doubt in the pig deal would have meant more votes in the barnyard, and also would have made it harder for the Obama campaign to lash her in the future.

In addition, I would tell Sarah to be Sarah: feisty, down to earth and funny. Don't try to be Henry Kissinger. Just demonstrate a grasp of the issues and a determination to look out for the folks. The key phrase for Palin should be: "Here's what we want to do." Then, using simple terms, state that.

Right now, American voters want to be reassured that their jobs are safe and that some crazy terrorist won't blow up their neighborhood. Palin has successfully dealt with economic issues in Alaska. On national security she has no record. But I'm sure there are things she wants to do in order to keep her five children safe. Just state them.

The elite media have little in common with everyday Americans, and Palin should laugh off their attempts to demean her. She can best capitalize on her incredibly fast start by simply keeping it simple. Nice goes a long way in life. And in politics.

Looks like he’s already licking the boots of the next person he wants to interview. O’Reilly has grown tiresome and his advice is not needed. Let him dwell on his lovefest with Obama

That’s nice, Bill. Now, please go back to looking into the connect-the-dots on the dangerous, radical self-portrait that is Barack Obama’s personal career path.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Folks are sick of "compassion" (read: Kick Me sign). And they're sick of being told that what they see and hear is not really what they see and hear (read: MSM). Gov. Palin owed Obama nothing, and I hope she sticks to that philosophy.

I can simplify it.

If you always do what you've always have done. You will always get what you've always gotten. In Gov. Palin's case, Do what you did that got you elected Mayor and then Governor.

WRONG move. The author thinks 'it's' qualified to give Sarah advice! How pompous plus it's bad advice. If she did that - it would be the worst move. Sarah doesn't lie in order to show compassion. This writer doesn't know how a truthful person acts. I believe this is a first for some to actually see a REAL person who happens to be a politician. Politicians need advice/coaching - Sarah doesn't - she is who she is and thank God!

Asinine article by a pompous writer. All this, in my humble opinion.

My advise to Palin is simply ignore all the high filuting advise she is getting and keep being herself.

If she will just keep being herself, the MSN, DNC, Obama campaign, left wingers, liberal/marxists will wear themselves out trying to bring her down and never lay a glove on her, and the American people's esteem and love for her and her family will continue to grow.

HOW SARAH PALIN TRUMPS OBAMA-BIDEN

The tabloid press is all over Alaska looking for dirt on Palin,

Someone should film a short news-report satire, showing a TV journalist in Alaska reporting on the progress of the dirt digging efforts.

Show well-heeled Dem operatives in fancy shoes cursing as they wildly dig through cemeteries, throwing shovels of dirt in all directions, knocking down gravestones.

Then a war room, where the chief flying monkey is pointing to a reconnaissance map on the wall, telling the underling flying monkeys that every dumpster in Wasilla and Juneau has been located, with precise GPS coordinates determiend for each, and that a pair of them will be assigned to each dumpster.

When these fail to turn up anything, cut to scene of more of these same scum digging through an abandoned garbage dump that was used by Wasila over ten years ago.

Then a femme fatale talking seductively to an ugly old unshaven drunk in a bar, telling him that in order to keep the free drinks coming, and to get his way with her, all he has to do is sign this affidavit that he knew Sarah intimately in high school, etc, etc.

From one pig with lipstick. I agree wholeheartedly with you!!! Obama knew what he was doing and saying...he followed his lipstick/pig comment with the old stinky fish wrapped in a thin veil ...8 years...blah, blah. He also knew by the reaction of his crowd....they also got his comment. Obama is running for office and using bully tactics with no class. America is tired of it...he tried this on Hillary and she called him on it, but lost. We are paying attention now and his MSM/self-made “halo” has dimmed. A new star is out there and Obamas time has ended. Thank goodness.

Duh - I didn’t know the author was BOR!! Trying to clean up his dirty boy - what groveling. Doesn’t this man - BOR - understand what he is doing to himself - I’m embarrassed for him.

Bill, you have missed the entire point about Gov. Sarah Palin. She is not from Washington and is exactly like the majority of all Americans. The snobbish elites in Washington and the media can just all go to hell!

Good post! It’s really funny - they are has beens - and no one really cares what they say; yet so desperate to give Sarah - who everyone wants to listen to - advice. What proof do they have she needs advice. LOL!! Such arrogance. She riding hide because she is herself - not a politician who needs coaching but herself! How refreshing.

Gez...good thing Bill O runs a TV show and not a election.

Quite possibly, that is some of the worst advice I’ve read since Bill C told Monica “It’s cool...don’t worry about it”

When 40 percent of the American people think the plagiarizer from Delaware is the better pick you know there’s something wrong.

Good advice for BOR - but the trouble with BOR is that he can give advice but can’t take it. And he’s clueless that he needs it. Doesn’t he have family or someone to whisper in his ear or something.

Imagine him - advising Sarah to wash away the dirt on his boy - so Hussein can appear clean to the public and it would be a compassionate move.

This is so telling of BOR. He is clueless about conservatives. Conservatives make people accountable - they don’t clean up their mess. That compassionate crapola came out of the liberal PC handbook so they can do whatever - because they can, ala clinton, and be forgiven.
