I’m not sure what Brian Rogers was doing with his statements. I know he isn’t McCain. He isn’t Palin. He could have been mistaken and hope he is.
McCain to me appears to be changing his position. He may not have fully changed it, but he is very open to other forms of research. I’m hopeful Governor Palin and the Republican base can keep him from doing stupid things. Not certain, but hopeful. In the worst case scenario, MANY more babies will live in a McCain presidency than an Obama one. If McCain were not able to finish his term, we would have a strongly pro-life President even on stem cells. If Obama weren’t able to, we wouldn’t have anything better on the other end. There isn’t a perfect ticket here, but there is one that is clearly superior to the other.
I agree. My purpose for getting invovled in this thread was not to sway anyone away from McCain.
However, McCain needs to avoid pulling the “Lucy with a football” stuff with Conservatives. One or two percentage points may decide this election.
At this point, I’d say backtracking on embryonic stem cell research would lose him more votes than he gains. A year or two ago, before the advancements in adult stem cell research, this would not have been the case.
The media will use this as a wedge issue if it’s not cleared up. We’ve seen a small sample of it tonight.
Thanks for the thoughtful and civil posts.
