And I guess I should have said that my Mom’s brother (my uncle), coming here as a boy of 11 or 12, without speaking a word of English, got recognized (award citation from the city) as an outstanding citizen by the time he graduated from high school. He went on to serve in the USAF, worked his way through night school for his engineering degree, and eventually retired as a CEO of hi-tech research laboratory in upstate NY (subsidiary of North American Philips).

My Mom never got her high-school degree, but of her 5 kids, one is a physician, one is a Ph.D. in engineering, and one runs Exxon-Mobil’s lubricants marketing for the Western Hemisphere.

Sorry for the family bragging, but the American dream is alive and well.

Those that played by the rules and come from legal immigrants understand that for us this is also an issue of honor.

Obama does not understand honor...period.
And although McCain gives me pause on this....I know he understands honor.

“McCain’s a hero. Pathetic, he isn’t.”

Pathetic he is in so many ways. And being a hero, or not being one, has nothing to do with how good a president someone might make.

Nixon was far superior to either of the 2008 candidates, easily, and to the nth power.

When will we see the “I got the message” video. He said it, oh so convincingly, with that hero grimace and gritted teeth, at most all the primary debates. You mean he didn;t mean it? Say it ain’t so, Norm.

I think most of us know that it will be a tumultuous four years with McCain on issues like this, judges, global warming, etc., but the alternative is unbearable. It’s been the same way with GWB. We just have to be ready when McCain and Congress try to sneak crap like this through.

A sneak attack is right, because, God forbid, we ignorant plebes and pedestrians ever catch wind of the liberal agenda at work. Recall Senator Happy Feet Craig's attempt to slip amnesty, under the aegis of AgJobs, past us.

He did get the message. And I find it laughable that you think Nixon was a better POTUS than McCain will make. All I can say is wait and see. You were shocked when he picked Palin (I was too). And you’ll be just as shocked when he actually secures the border and actually nominates strict constructionists to the bench. And no amnesty. He did get the message.

“It’s gonna be amnesty no matter who wins.”

No matter which presidential candidate wins, the White House will support amnesty. But even with the Dem. majorities since 2006, they were unable to pass the “comprehensive” amnesty bill, and all the piecemeal attempts were defeated afterwards.

Pelosi has been unable to get what she wanted on several issues (Iraq for one) because of the Blue Dogs. The Dems. haven’t added a single seat yet, and with the groundswell of support due to Palin, things now look better in the Congressional races for Republicans.

Which makes Juan’s approval of this video all the more stupid. He will turn off some number of those who’ve only very recently become enthusiastic because of Governor Palin.

Someone needs to tell Juan that all this excitement is NOT really for him, and it sure as hell is not for his amnesty nonsense. He’s just pigheaded enough to blow it all with stunts like this.

We need to send a message to McCain in the weeks ahead to switch from McCain back to undecided.

And a dip in his campaign contributions might help.

Especially as a check with one dollar and a explanation:

No more until you "Get right on illegal immigration or get left behind."

He'll get the message.

And no amnesty. He did get the message.

You must be joking. Here is McCain's official website. Read the section "Address the Undocumented." It is amnesty straight out of McCain-Kenndy. He can't even call them unauthorized or illegal aliens.

Nixon was, and is very highly regarded but for his fatal mishandling of Watergate. Did you not watch his funeral and hear all the praise from individuals of different parties? McCain is not a shadow of what Nixon was at his best.

You seem to be forgetting what Juan told the La Raza gathering, that “comprehensive” reform is his “highest priority”.

Trust him if you choose to. I don’t trust him, and have heard far too much of the Double-Talk Express.

Yes Nixon was a very capable and intelligent person. But he gave us price controls, the EPA, other things, and basically cost us the presidency in ‘76.

And the leftist media is trying to bring out the point that Palin does not agree with McLame on every issue. Like, that’s a good thing people, duuuuuh!! This is the one issue that would boost McLame’s ratings even more if he made a sincere effort to reverse his position.

Nixon gave us wage and price controls and proposed national healthcare just to name of couple of unconservative policies during his adminstration.

If McCain keeps this up, I will sit out the election. This is one reason I DO NOT trust McCain.

Yeah, like Obama is going to be so much better on this SINGLE issue.

Yes, Nixon initiated a number of non-conservative policies. He also signed some of the first affirmative action policies into law.

But the conservatism we speak of today didn’t really exist from 1968 - 1974, or it only existed in some speeches and proposals of Goldwater and Reagan, and some writers like Buckley and a few others. It had not really gripped a significant portion of the public yet. Vietnam was the biggest issue during the Nixon years. Roe vs. Wade became law near the end of his time in office.

That was a different era as far as the political debate goes.

McCain: Mayflower folk, go to hell! We're a nation of immigrants, so y'all come on in!

I wasn't aware that the USA had any immigrant laws when the Mayflower rolled into port. LOL. Maybe you're not talking about the Mayflower though.

In spite of recent gains in the polls, McCain will still manage to lose this election because of amnesty and ANWR.

His only hope is that Obama will screw up even more than he has so far.

This election is a race to the bottom, save for Sarah Palin.

Hey if the illegal vote goes to anyone ... maybe we should put McCain in that drivers seat. I don’t agree with almost Americans voting in our elections - but shouldn’t we make them count for the GOP?

At this juncture - anyone but OBambi!!
