It did not occur to Gibson that the reason they may want funding for studying mating of crabs is because Alaskan king crab is huge business and feeds people all over the world. Of course it makes sense to understand how they mate and try to find ways to improve production.Same goes for the fishing industry. He tried to embarass her and she stood her ground.
Sarah was spot-on in pointing out that their are channels that Alaskan agencies (commerce, education, infrastructure) can go through like every state that are fair and square. The earmarks that are tacked on to appropriation bills or defense bills that are essentially open bribes to get a Rep. to vote for said bill are what we are talking about and Sarah hit that out of the ball park.
