I kind of figured this would happen once ABC got into their opening segment. The only thing I can think of is that McCain’s campaign still thinks the drive-bys love him and ergo Sarah...this whole thing should have been a blow to that sentiment.
According to NRO, Sarah shines when they get to her interview. Thus the need for the intro hit piece.
Charlie’s trying SOOOOOOoooooo hard to get her to step in it. I guess since she refused, ABC decided to tack on the first 7 minutes of rebuttal-free editorializing to get across to America what a lousy VP choice she is.
The agreement should have been a 1 hour interview precluding the possibility for such a hit piece.
Put down the weapon and step away from the television. You paid a lot for it.

No doubt Charlie brushed up on his Torquemada techniques before drafting his questions. What a pathetic excuse for a “journalist”!
It's having the exact opposite effect, in fact. But the Left is too scared and hate-filled to see it.
I was watching this sh*t and even my wife who is apolitical saw the bias. It was blatent and disgusting.
But it is nothing new.
They could have made the same report about Barry Goldwater or Ronald Reagan. with the same blah blah blah.
We conservatives have been putting up with this for way too long. It is time we put a stop to it. All interviews must be live. no editing. and if you do not play fair. we are going to cut you off.
TY ABC for explaining that Sarah palin is actually a dirty scheming lying corrupt piece of garbage who is not supported even by her own friends.
Who the hell was that unidentified woman who said she will wait for the debates, as proof that “even” Mrs Palin’s friends in Alasks are not supporting her.
This is pure hooey. I hate ABC. And now Charlie Gibson is back to his nastiness. “You raised the sales tax, you created debt”, sneer, snickr, leer,pomposity......)
I had that thought too, but then I want to hear Palin. I'm trying hard to tune out Gibson's questions.
Quite a day for ABC. First Whoopi asking McCain if she’ll be a slave if he is elected and now this blatant hit piece.
Sarah’s wearing a great lipstick color this evening! ;-)

Gibson and Palin – Day 2 [Yuval Levin]
If yesterday’s portion of the Charlie Gibson interview of Sarah Palin was good but not great for her, today’s was fantastic. She was calm and at ease, poised, clear, and—like yesterday—substantively right on target. The portion at the end of the newscast, about balancing motherhood and political leadership, could well be worth more than all the ads the McCain campaign has purchased lately.
Stylistically, today was far better than yesterday for her. But the more striking thing is that substantively, her answers in both cases were more or less exactly what they should have been. If after two fairly intense interviews like this the closest thing to a gaffe she’s committed is to share in what turns out to be a widely shared uncertainty about the definition of the Bush doctrine, she’s in good shape. And if lots of people see today’s portion of the interview, she’s in great shape.
If I remember correctly, Newsbusters.org has some clips of Kate Snow reporting “fairly” about Gov. Palin in earlier news cycle.
You know...as a woman I didn’t want them to be nicer to her than they were to the “guys” running for office, but I guess I didn’t expect them to be jerks to her either.
