But I recall other reports referencing his chiding of the American people for their limited French -- remember "Merci beaucoup") -- stating that he himself didn't speak a second language.

Doesn't it seem unlikely that he would've learned Arabic from his father in this time frame?
On the other hand, Obama spent ages 6-10 (1967-71) living in Indonesia in his step-father's household. In retrospect, it seems more likely that he might have learned Bahar Indonesia from his step-father than Arabic from his true father.
I’m not too fond of Wikipedia, mostly because I’ve seen mistakes there. So I try not to use it.
Obama is a liar. That much we know. If he lies about his ethnicity in order to get into Harvard under Affirmative Action, and lies about his income as well as the names of the people who back him, how much of what he says is actually truthful?
As much as I’ve read about the man, I have yet to read something redeeming. He wants to preserve abortions so his daughters don’t have to be burdened with a baby they don’t want. This, instead of teaching his daughters about chastity.
The list goes on. He is backed by some funding from Iran, and I suspect Putin is in the fray, somewhere. Why else would he attack Georgia before a presidential election in this country? Because he had information that Obama was a shoe-in, and because of Obama’s cowardice, Russia and Islam could have an open country.
My opinions, of course. As I said: I’ve read enough to know the man is scary because of his lack of a spine.

The sort of enigma of Obama, and his creation as a political figure is indeed a mysterious venue. I really do think that, and this infamous gaffe that Obama made about his faith should be a much bigger issue than it is at the moment. It is actually way bigger than the lipstick on a pig. If George S. has to correct Obama on his faith, what else is Obama hiding from us? I do find it interesting when he talked about how the political winds should shift and how he would side with the Muslims.
What Muslims would he be talking about? The AQ breed, the more reformist Muslims like Walid Shoebat? That is the problem. I really do think that there is something about the NOI, the Destruction at all costs type of Muslims and Obama. Just to note I really don’t think that Obama is a Christian, when Evangelicals used to be Anti-Slavery it was in the vein of what is best for humanity and God’s children, not the eeeevil white people and a strange interpretation on how Jesus lived. It was that these people were slaves whether they were black or white and that was wrong.
Jerry Wright, Obama’s spiritual mouthpiece, however doesn’t preach theology or even rival theologies but preaches bigotry and hatred. Not only that but there were Muslims still in that “Church”, and that same Church championed Farrakhan because they love racial kooks as long as they are the right skin color(in essence I wouldn’t even call it a Church since racialism has no place in religion. I would call it the KKK of Blacks as I don’t believe that devout Christians would burn crosses. That is like burning our flag.). It was also Obama who used the sermon on the Mount to champion Homosexual Civil Unions which I find to be bizzare, and he is absolutely for abortion.
It is really easy to confuse your faith when it only takes a slight foot to anything related to Islam.
