THat’s a democrat Governor, right? I thought the wholesale price went up, so it seems reasonable for the gas stations to raise prices accordingly.
Also, it seems that will discourage people from running out to get gas when it is scarce, unless they really need it. They can wait a week for the price to come back down.
Oh well. I’m sure the gas stations can afford to sell product at a loss for a couple of weeks, to make the governor look good.

Well, here in North Central Indiana reports that gas is $4.50 in Kokomo and a report on Fort Wayne radio that stations there are “running out of unleaded”.

Southeat Kentucky mainly fuels from the tank farms out of Knoxville, Tn. Knoxville is feeling a big price hit and shortage right now also.

The Houston Chronicle had articles about the refinery shutdowns due to Hurricane Ike. One of the news articles said that spot prices for gasoline jumped $1.50 per gallon overnight Thursday.

Somebody posted last night to expect this problem today. They were pretty well bashed and flamed, but they did say to expect $1 to $1.41 rise in prices overnight.

There was talk about building new refineries after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita at old military bases.
But once refineries in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Biloxi were back online, nobody cared.
There has only been ONE new refinery built in the 50 to 70 years, and I think it was just recently started in the process of construction...
Surprise! Another pair of hurricanes and another problem with gasoline supplies and prices...
The only reason the oil companies (50 to 70 years ago) built the refineries where they did was to be close to the supply.

If prices are jumping that much now, the Governor is spot on, and BOLD! The gas they're selling now has NOT been affected in price by any storm, terrorist action, or anything. The raising of prices to that level is nothing more than predatory price gouging, it's absolutely despicable. Good for him for having the hutzbah as Governor to protect the economic interests of The People. I salute his integrity and his will.

I live in southern Indiana - just 7 miles from downtown Louisville—across the Ohio River. I live near 3 gas stations (right off I-64) - one of them is now at $4.19, another at $3.99, and the other is CLOSED—all the lights are off...which is very, very unusual.

if I were the governor of Kentucky...
I'd issue a statement to the citizens of the fair state of Kentucky
that now they are going to experience the economic H-LL that
they'd have EVERY SINGLE FREAKING DAY...
if they vote like the SUICIDAL MORONS of CALIFORNIA.
And let them suffer for a day or two before issuing the indictments
for these peckerwoods.
If the folks in Kentucky have to suffer a bit...
they might as well learn an unpleasant lesson in Democratic economics.
And see the ugly truth of lieberal economic policies.
And that the push for vehicles that can run on more than one
fuel source (Flex-Fuel) isn't such a bad idea.
