ABC was deliberately trying to make the viewer feel uncomfortable by editing Palins interview like a Hollywood movie. Oliver Stone must have been in the editing booth.
Editing creates pace and emotion. The editor of this piece was trying to make the viewer feel unbalanced.
They inserted jump cuts, which are never used in TV journalism. Thats when an edit is made without the camera angle changing. That technique creates a feeling of uneasiness because it is jarring to the senses.
The rhythm of the edits were uneven , the camera angles were horrendous and the audio at times was cut off during some answers in a very jarring manner.
The producer and editor did everything in their power to present a disjointed and visually unflattering portrait of Palin.
Just compare the Palin interview to the free flowing, melodic nature of this Gibson interview with Barry:

You are correct.
Some liberal weenie editor (and I know many of them) thought he/she would be really clever with the jump cuts. I didn’t see the whole interview, but I bet they cut to her several times while she wasn’t saying anything...makes her look uncomfortable and nervous.
..
Excellent analysis because that's exactly how I was feeling when I watched what little of it that I did.......
