Palin action figure raises objections
MSNBC ^

Posted on 09/12/2008 3:31:23 AM PDT by jakerobins

If the interest in Sarah Palin’s eyeglasses is any indication, the Oxford, Conn., company making her action figure will be inundated with requests. But not everyone is amused.

HeroBuilders.com has made three action figures of the Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate.

The figures include the Sarah Palin business figure, complete with glasses, a suit and her hair pulled back in a bun. The Sarah Palin hero action figure looks like something from the movie “The Matrix,” with a long black coat opened to show a gun holster on the thigh.

But it is the Sarah Palin School Girl that is raising eyebrows. In the risqué doll, she dons a red bra and a short skirt.

Kathleen Angco-Vieweg, an assistant professor of sociology at American International College in Springfield, Mass., denounced the dolls as sexist.

“If [a woman is] pretty, the only power they have is to turn on a man instead of using their brains and intellect,” Angco-Vieweg said. “She is the governor of Alaska, so she obviously has the brains to run those laws and governance.”

This is too weird. The same feminists who use sexist remarks to put down SARAH PALIN. Are calling a doll of her SEXIST. I guess they can't accept a woman can be many things SMART, TOUGH, and pretty. They can't believe one person would be able to be all these things well SARAH PALIN is that and more. People can't be catogorized into net little liberal terms you like to put people in. Unlike many Feminists she is ATTRACTIVE, SMART, and tough and I'll add classy. She manages not to have an overblown EGO like some "Pretty" people. So while these terms can't co-exist for these ughhh "Women". SARAH PALIN is a threat to them and their ideals on every level. She EARNED her term as MAYOR and then Governer of ALASKA. She did it without the feminists protesting or affirmative action she went into a dirty buisness and FOUGHT and used her Brains to use conservative ideas to gain her offices. This kills them a pretty woman "always" SLEEPS her way to the top or is DITZY that's what these FEMINISTS tell each other. She did it her own way not to make a FEMINIST point, but she knew she was the BEST person for the office. And didn't cry ask her opponents to take it easy she FOUGHT and was tough BLAZED her own trail. She didn't wait for someone to do it for her or show her "the Way". She is comfortable BEING in charge and GIVING orders as GOVERNOR and also managing to be a MOM. I admire her so much not only for all these reasons but showing LIBERALS their little labels don't always apply. GO SARAH GO. Your AMAZING and a TRUE role-model.

Man, talk about scraping the barrel - an assistant professor? Come on, MSNBC, can't you find someone of substance to call these dolls sexist? Don't you have some better numbers in your rolodex?

How sad for MSNBC, but what hope it gives me that one has to go that far down to find baseless objections and projectionists.

Well, I tend to agree, that school girl doll is over the line. Truth be told, I don't like any of the dolls. In my view, they are trying to "Obama" her.

Obama (v), the process of raising a political candidates celebrity status to the point where they are no longer taken seriously.

Wow...the Fem-Left sure has problems with that Alaska Governor, do they...LOL.

Why Sarah has an action figure? Because no one would buy the Dianne Feinstein action figure

There was an article the other day by a female writer for Vogue magazine, wherein she said the Gov. was “mortified” when she was in the Miss Wasilla beauty contest and the judges asked her to turn around so they could judge her “from the back”.

If Mrs. Palin were embarrassed by THAT, I think she would also be “mortified” by a bra and mini-skirted action doll of herself! I think the other two would be great though!

Yes, my ex did, too. Part Filipina and very petite, she could pull off that naughty Catholic schoolgirl look... I miss her. :-(

The doll's face IS pretty ugly—and she doesn't even have rooted hair! That's a disappointment. It makes the doll look cheap.

I don't like the the celebrifying thing either. It can cut both ways.

If I were one of these I would want new arms and legs. They look uncomfortable. I mean, who has a knee cap like that? In winter, the cold wind would just whistle through those joints.

I like the old Barbie arms and legs much better.

I was in a card shop, yesterday. I saw cards featuring Obama, McCain, Bush, Hillary. no Palin. I wonder if some enterprising entrepreneur will act quickly. THe same goes for Hallowe’en mask. Although I haven't seen any of Obama. I guess it's blasphemy to make a mask of the deity.
