NEW YORK (AP) — John McCain is mocked as an out-of-touch, out-of-date computer illiterate in a television commercial out Friday from Barack Obama as the Democrat begins his sharpest barrage yet on McCain's long Washington career.

LOL...McCain could become computer literate in a few days if he felt the need...it’s NOT rocket science for goodness sake.

How many lifetimes would it take Obama to generate an IQ above 110 (about what I’d peg him at..and I’m being very kind)

I’d wager money that Palin’s IQ is at least 125 ...just no way someone can be that talented and not be at least at subgenius levels.

What in the hell is a computer?

You know, it's one of those typewriter things that talks on the phone lines and looks like a TV. All the kids are using them these days.

Right. The president needs to know the latest version of Windows and how to Google. /s

You know, Bambi, the president has people for that. He’s wayyyy too busy to surf the net.

The computer illiterate attack will backfire. The Obama camp wants to exploit the sterotypical notion of grandma and grandpa in fear of them there new-fangled computers. It risks ticking off a reliable voting block like seniors who, poor out of touch things, somehow managed to scrape by in life without email, IPhones and web browsers.

The implicit idea that one needs to be computer literate to be "now" and "in touch" is completely counter to real life. As a computer consultant/contract programmer I have worked for countless highly successful business owners, doctors, lawyers, and other professionals who can barely operate a computer, or are comfortable with a confined set of tasks. On more than one occassion I've unintentionally offended customers because of presumptions I held about their knowledge of computer technology. ("How could anyone run a business and not know how to right click and choose copy on a context menu?", I assumed matter-of-factly)

What I've learned firsthand is that many successful people are too busy doing things like saving lives, counseling parishioners, running construction sites, taking care of families, representing clients, writing laws, leading civic organizations, etc. to have time to even use a computer, much less get comfortable using one. (Heck, that's why they hired me.) Some of these good people have what I might consider an irrational fear of computers, but they certainly aren't the sort of folks to be dismissed as out of touch. I can't imagine these incredibly productive citizens will take kindly to being insulted because they aren't computer literate.

Why would you put an ad making fun of someone for being computer illiterate on television? Wouldn't you want to put that one on the internet?

Why?

Because people watching television may well be computer illiterate. Obama's making fun of them, too. There are plenty of older Americans who haven't bothered to learn about computers, and still watch a lot of television.

If you're going to put an ad up like that, put it where only computer literate people will see it.

Where did they *find* this guy?

Obama is modulating down into his hysterical mode

What we need to do is send 30 investigators to dig up dirt on this fem bot Obama

Same as he sent to Alaska to get stuff on Sarah Palin and her family

The Obama campaign obviously needs a shakeup and some new blood...but it’s too late in the game for that.

They ran a terrible campaign in the summer and have made several critical mistakes since. And then combined with renewed excitement with the Republican ticket, the wheels are falling off. And they are just hoping and praying that they have enough forward momentum to take them just across the finish line.

So now this lawyer has the expertise to judge other people’s computer skills? McCain can fly jets, I’ll bet he could figure out Windows and a mouse if he had to.

If Obama is sooooo literate in computers then why didn’t he backup his Il. senate records instead of putting them in boxes no one can find?

McCain doesn't need to be computer literate as long as he knows how to hire someone who is...

This charge resembles the charge that a first or second grader has poor handwriting. And, how can that be if same child is the class brain.

Nun told Mom... doesn't matter she'll have a secretary.

I think all the supposedly computer-savvy people should know is that there are still millions of Americans (like my parents), mostly sixty and older, who view the computer as a very foreign object. To insult them because they don’t know one end of the computer from the other would be just another political mistake...the kind I hope Obama keeps making.

John McCain was using on-board computers on Navy jets while Hussein was still emitting yellow feces!

Lets bash seniors now as being “out of touch” because they cant use a computer...excellent strategy there, Barry!

I'm 63 and got my first IBM PC in 1981. Take that Barry!

The only "computer" McCain needs to use really well is the "Mark I" inside his skull.

You know, Democrats have a running record of misplacing records. Hillary found the lost records in the White House. Years after they were asked for.
