she learns quickly. And unlike Obama, she knows how to answer a question without looking like you plan to bomb Pakistan. That’s even more important than knowing who the PM of Togo is.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Palin knows more about foreign policy than Bush did in 2000. He made a lot of mistakes.
Now, McCain...he knows everything. He’ll be a great teacher
People are upset because the first thing we learned about the interview is that:
1. Gibson misquoted her.
2. She called him on it and he lied.
3. ABC apparently cut that out of the interview.
And it was an important misquotation of Governor Palin. As soon as I saw the transcripts of what he quoted and what she said, I was not longer interested in watching.
I always thought the main part of the Bush doctrine was the countries who harbor terrorists will be treated as terrorists themselves
the fact that ive seen at least 5 different explanations of the bush doctrine in various blogs and newspapers tonight tells me her what aspect of it question was perfectly legitimate.
not only that, it’s current Obama/Biden policy
I thought she did well; a few less 'Charlies' offered perhaps; and her voice went a 'bit thin' at first; but then relaxed into texture. Sarah nailed Charlie with Lincoln answer though he appeared not to recognize it.
That said, thought the set up was strange. . .facing each other in small tight chairs, 'knees to knees'; when there was a nice 'round table' behind them. Did they want to show her legs? Intimidate her a bit, by direct confrontational body position for interview. Was it such a small room that her knees were almost touching his? It did not appear to be. He looked like the 'teacher'as he would pull back; and sternly address her; looking down his nose-with-glasses. . .She looked like the student.
No matter one's composure - these are surely challenging moments - and times - for her. Can only say Kudos to Sarah given thus far, how she has responded to what has come her way.
Hurricane Ike; almost pales by comparison to the threatening wrath generated by the 'Left'that they have so forcefully blown towards Sarah and her family.
She looks so much better in the outdoor shots. The McCain people should not let her be filmed as she was in the first segment. There should be a table separating her from the interviewer.
Agreed. She and Gibson were too close together.
Agreed, the main issue is of terrorism and how to combat it and in all reality the Bush Doctrine is basically all of the complexities and speeches and issues/ideas and everything on President Bush’s foreign policy platform, yet do not run the risk of simplifying it. Like I said, asking “in what respect?” doesn’t sound like she has no idea what it meant. It sounds like she wanted Gibson to clarify which is perfectly understandable. The fact that the knee-jerk bias of the Media is such that they attack her over a simple clarification question just shows that we shoudn’t take them seriously about Sarah Palin. Even if she got a totally different question they would use the usual DNC talking points to attack her unfairly.
Also, like I said, I do not understand how the Bush Doctrine can be summed up as pre-emptive war if pre-emptive war has happened in the past. In the Post 9/11 world, President Bush gave a special doctrine and plan as we all know but it isn’t just one unit of thinking.
It reminded me of when I had to take an oral exam, one on one, with a teacher who kept losing my train of thought because he was always being interrupted by his cell phone. I blanked out for a minute and just stared as he got up and walked back and forth until I figured out the answer to the problem and got it perfectly.
It’s much harder than answering questions on paper.
they want to tie her to Bush and then they complain that she doesn’t know the Bush doctrine.
It was an intelligent response evading a "trap" set by Gibson. "Qualify the question so we aren't dancing around generalities and a meaningful answer can be produced" was the response.
The MSM is just upset she didn't give an Obama-esque response and fall into the trap.
In another thread various quotes were cited and Gibson himself has several different definitions for the "Bush Doctrine"...so to not be a mind read and know what he's thinking at this particular moment would make her pretty normal.
Yep, completely agree.
Compare her to Condi Rice whose voice shakes when she talks. She also mumbles. Oh by the way, she is Sec of State!
“That said, thought the set up was strange. . .facing each other in small tight chairs, ‘knees to knees’; when there was a nice ‘round table’ behind them.”
I suspect the intent was to intimidate the interviewee.
