You know, I was going to call it a night. And then I saw the story about John McCains appearance at the 9/11 Columbia University forum earlier this evening.
Every time you grit your teeth and defend this guy, he pulls something like this. Hey, Maverick: Way to throw Sarah Palin, Rudy Giuliani, and your strategists who had the sense to seize on Obamas abysmal, ineffectual record as a Chicago rabble-rouser under the bus!
Criiiiiikey:
Barack Obama and John McCain attempted to set their differences aside Thursday night, if only for a moment, as they encouraged Americans to volunteer in their community and military at a forum on national service.
Few sparks flew at the Columbia University event, hosted by ServiceNation. The candidates who were interviewed separately were encouraged to keep campaign politics to a minimum, out of respect for victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.
In that spirit, McCain at one point softened the language used by his running mate last week at the Republican National Convention, where she mocked Obamas early days as a community organizer.
Governor Palin was responding to the criticism of her inexperience, her job as a mayor in a small town, McCain explained. Of course I respect community organizers. Of course I respect people whove served their communities, and Senator Obamas record there is outstanding.
Outstanding?
Are you kidding me? Does McCain need talking points on the government-subsidized fraud machine that is ACORN? Here are the ACORN Watch archives: Print and read.
Does McCain even know about the Annenberg Challenge disaster? Someone set up a briefing for him with Stanley Kurtz, stat! Is he even aware of Obamas own disavowal of his failed community organizer efforts?
McCain has just taken one of his own campaigns most effective lines of attack against his opponents feckless, far Left past and tossed it away like the rose Obama flung in the water.
Whats next? Will McCain attack those who mock Obamas outstanding community organizer record as racist, too?
Banging. Head. Against. Wall.

Hey, lets put some salt in the wound: A cabinet position for Obama to boot!
Maybe hell be named Secretary of the Soros Slush Fund.
Speak for yourself.
McCain a weak candidate? You must not be paying attention. Until you shed your hatred of John McCain which is obviously still lingering on after over a year of conversations with you I don’t know what else to say.
Yes, “Community organizer” is a made up job for radical agitation.
Some start non-profits with high sounding names and milk other non-profits and the governement; others get civil service jobs and then morph those jobs into community organizer jobs with a Marxist agenda. They control the flow of money to their own programs and those of the Marxist non-profits. Rarely does anyone stop them spending time or the government’s money and resources on the community organizer side of things because the programs they suggest sound politically correct. No one complains because putting in programs like this gets government top management a raise.
Not all community organizers are Black. Marxist Hispanic community organizers are following the same militant model of agitation.
It turns out that a Community Organizer is just like Jesus and Abraham Lincoln! I'll bet Al Sharpton liked that when a half-dozen Obama surrogates simultaneously came up with that definition. But hey, The Hon. Elijah Cummings has said that even to question the sanctity of the calling of Community Organization is to be a racist. Gee, I don't want to have racist feelings towards Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, do I? I could end up in eternal hellfire without the benefit of habeus corpus! I'm perfectly willing to give the last full measure of acceptance to the explanation that for five years Barak Obama spent his time walking on Lake Michigan and composing a redux of the Gettysburg Address. Are these guys kidding? We all think of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton when we hear 'community organizer' and Obama might have stopped going to Rev Wright's whacko racist marxist lunatic asylum when the heat got turned up but he doesn't want to talk about the twenty years he hung out with his surrogate father. Do those Dems think people have stopped thinking about that just because Obama's too slippery to get pinned down by his accommodating friends in the mainstream media?---from skep41
No, I wonder why you understand it was necessary but are disappointed that she understood it, and acted accordingly.
Because she disagrees with McCain on ANWR and says so, but chose to “toe the line” on man-made global warming.
I can be disappointed in what she says and still understand why she said it.
She conceded ground on an important issue.
