When Gibson said if under the NATO treaty, the United States would have to go to war if Russia again invaded Georgia, Palin responded: "Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help.

But, Georgia is not a member of NATO, yet.

For Pete’s sake. She didn’t say that Georgia was a member of NATO. She said earlier that she believed that Georgia should be admitted into NATO. She then answered correctly the question you mentioned: what might happen if Russia invaded Georgia as a NATO country. She specifically referred to the NATO treaty.
