ABC News anchor Charles Gibson's forthcoming interview with Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palinher first since being hoisted onto the ticket by John McCainwill give a national audience an unvarnished look at the candidate. Because Palin is telegenic and the interview will be shot against scenic Alaskan backdrops, the only thing to prevent the interview from turning into sweet Republican syrup will be tough questions from Gibson.
Gibson and his team got knocked by Washington Post columnist Tom Shales as "shoddy," "despicable," and "prosecutorial" after they hosted the April 16 debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
1) What Bush administration policy do you disagree with most, and what would you have done differently?
Then how much smaller would the McCain budget be and where precisely should he cut?
2) How are you like Hillary Clinton?
3) You're running as a reformer, a crusader against the special interests and politics as usual. Setting aside for a moment Sen. Ted Stevens' legal problems, should Alaska return to the Senate this Republican who has delivered more pork to his state than virtually any other elected official? Yes or no?
But in the past you had no problem with asking Alaskans to vote out a standing Republican. You challenged the incumbent Republican governor, Frank Murkowski, on a pork-slaying, reformist platform and beat him in the primary. Isn't Stevens as antithetical to your views on good government as Murkowski?
4) Unique among all U.S. governors, you lead a state that shares a border with Russia, a sometimes hostile nation with a nuclear arsenal and new geopolitical ambitions. Given that, how do you evaluate Vladimir Putin?

I’m sure she has smart people advising her, but I don’t think she should do taped interviews. They will be edited to show her in the worst possible light.
WTF?
Why not ask how she is like Margaret Thatcher. Or at least Elvis Presley.
My concern is with how they edit the interviews. The 60 Minutes producer has often bragged that he could have interviewed the Bill and Hillary differently such that they would have lost the election, but he chose to edit in a manner that made them look good, so they won.
You’re running as a reformer, a crusader against the special interests and politics as usual. Setting aside Senator Robert Byrd’s past as a community organizer, er Ku Klux Klan recruiter, should this former Democrat Majority Leader be returned to the Senate?
RE: “According to the ABC News website the interview will be broken up into segments. The first one of which starts at 6:30 tonight on ABC World News.
I will be watching with fingers crossed. She needs to do well”
There will be some very interesting “editing” going on here, so much so that what really is said may be lost.
Take that show, 60 Minutes. Decades ago, when I worked at Sunkist Growers they were interviewed and the result was a horrid smear against that organization. We were warned in advance by management, who had seen the final show before airing. It was SO disgusting and disappointing.
I truly wish Sarah had not agreed to this nonsense with ABC. MSM can never be trusted to convey the truth. Just hope for a decent outcome and get past it. Maybe Sarah will be so great nothing editors can do will get in the way.
Connie Chung: "just whisper it to me, just between you and me...
“As a Christian, I will be praying for her and this interview that she will be blessed by the Lord in thoughtful, well phrased and honest discourse. That Charles Gibson will be at least fair in his questions and ask those that are important to the voters, not the medias view of things. And mostly how thankful I am that God has brought this woman onto the national scene at this time. Nothing is random or coincidence and we know that all things work together for good to those who Love God, who are called according to His riches in mercy. Romans”
Amen. I will be praying that the Lord makes His words her words, His thoughts her thoughts, and binds the enemy from interfering with this interview in any way, shape, or form. May God anoint her with a mouth of wisdom that puts her adversaries to shame and points them to Christ. I pray for angelic protection over Sarah & her family and that the Lord Jesus is glorified in this interview.
I’m convinced (along with the author of this post: http://beta.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2079816/posts ) that MSM will try and skewer Sarah on her religious convictions. I see in her eyes, that she’s had a vision. She has strong character and leads by example. Read the article and the author’s concern and let me know how you’d answer the questions that he posts.
RE: “Heres hoping the McCain campaign ran their own video camera during the interview in order to be able to validate answers, their truncation and context.”
Absolutely! This should’ve been a pre-condition set down by the McCain campaign before agreeing to this “interview” process.
Let them edit the crap out her interview. As much as the media is already drawing angst from the masses an attempt to do this would get exposed and help the ticket even more.
Not true. I hear now that they have her slated for 20/20 and another MSM interview Friday. They’re going to expose the heck out of her to the American Public. Shouldn’t they back off a little and let her breath?
right side of page it says September 11, 2008 6:30pm.
After that I saw somewhere that another part would be on Good Morning America and another part on 20/20 tomorrow night at 10pm.
Then they'll take Sarah's answers and spin them off to shows like Night Line or Prime Time or 20/20 - shows staffed by liberals gunning for Sarah. The answers Sarah "gave" will be compared to an Alaskan dem who hates her and has already been filmed. It's a gotcha - done in the style of liberals who hate traditional women.
Gibson will be sooooooooo surprised his simple questions caused soooooo much damage. George S will smile a lot....
Obama will not be given the same treatment.
Chicago is off limits. Reporters can't find the town, can't find the neightborhood and if they could, they would only be able to find people who looooooooove Obama.
And Gibson - basically a good man - will use his "goodness" to put Sarah at ease.
He will be somewhat surprised his interview sets the stage for the typical "conservative hating vultures" at his network to go in for the kill. They will assure him that Obama/Biden will be treated with the same scrutiny. ( they lie) Or that the American people already "know" Biden (another lie - run a poll - - citizens DO NOT knows Biden better than Sarah)
These are not nice people - she'd be better off going to the DNC and letting them drill her.
DAniel Philips wrote these questions, linked earlier by a fellow freeper...
I think the MSM will try and upend her, by making her look like a religious zealot. How should she answer the following questions?
“Do you think women should be pastors?”
“Why can a woman be a president, but not a pastor?”
“Do you think wives should submit to their husbands?”
“Do you obey your husband in all things as to the Lord?”
“Do you hit your children?”
“Do you believe in evolution?”
“Do you believe the world was created in six days, 6000 years ago?”
“Will everyone who doesn’t believe in Jesus go to Hell?”
“Do you think the Bible is the literal Word of God?”
“Do you think schools should be forced to teach creationism and the Bible?”
“Do you believe in homeschooling?”
“You chose to have your Down syndrome child. Should all women be forced to do what you chose to do?”
“Are Roman Catholics going to Hell?”
“Are Mormons going to Hell?”
“Is John McCain going to Hell?”
“Is your Down syndrome child a sinner, going to Hell if he doesn’t become a bornagainChristian?”
“Do you speak in tongues?”
Here’s more on it:
You know those magazines that come in the Sunday paper. They have these husband-wife questionnaires in them.
My wife takes them then fills in my answers for me.
Then she tells me how incompatible we are.
You never know though. Maybe she will shock everyone again. So far she has broken through the hurdles placed before her. Maybe she’ll do so well there won’t be a way to cut it up and make her sound bad. And if they do all she has to do is make a statement about being treated unfairly. Like I said in a previous post the growing angst against the media would make such a statement from Palin quite believable to the majority of American citizens. Personally I am in wait and see mode.
This is a good idea, but we know who’ll actually be preparing the questions: Julian Epstein, Bob Shrum, et al, and they’ll be vicious.
We’ll be praying for her.
Yes, she will be saturating the ABC network starting tonight through the weekend. No one, not even John Kennedy could make it through unscathed with such scrutiny.
He should ask the same type of softballs he’d give HRC or BHO, such as:
Who does your hair? How much does it cost?
Who do you like in the next American Idol?
Does your husband wear boxers or briefs?
etc.
etc.
etc.
