Dear Mr. Obama (a personal message from an Iraq War Veteran)

"When you call the Iraq War a mistake, you disrespect the service and the sacrifice of everyone who has died promoting freedom".

I haven't seen this posted on FR before, but even if it has been, it is such a powerful and moving message it's worth re-posting. It will bring tears in your eyes and a lump in your throat, guaranteed.

TOPICS: Foreign Affairs; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: freedom; mccain; principles; sacrifice
We are so very fortunate to have these brave young men and women who understand service and sacrifice in the same way John McCain does.

Yes, from the beginning of political agenda of the left, I never believed our President ever lied to us nor mis-led us.
Everytime I have heard it said the war is a mistake I too felt they were minimizing the faithfulness and honor of our men fighting and dying for our liberty and freedom. May we not forget these men and women are volunteers, and truly believe in what they are doing, and so must we!

I figured someone had, thanks! It’s impossible to tell by searching.

It’s just so important that people hear and *think about* what these words actually mean. Without a doubt, Senator McCain’s speech last week had the same effect.

Let’s keep putting the word out, this video deserves the nations attention.

It’s neat that this has only been out a few days, and it’s already been viewed over 2.7 million times.

This been posted before and it just gets more meaningful every time.

The one question that really rips every single arguement against the war and our warriors apart is, “do you rescue a fireman just as he is about to save a child?”

Liberals don’t deal with the concrete; only the abstract. That question is so concrete that there’s no way around it. Most liberals would laud the fireman who saves a child (their child), but are too dense to know that the soldier does the same, just on a different scale and in a different theater.

Fireman, police officers, and soldiers are cut from a cloth and they deal with reality, not abstractions.

These are the people that will lay their lives on the line for anyone, regardless of political stripe. Their job is to protect our lives; if needed, to save our lives; to protect our freedoms. Whether that is a fighting soldier or a fireman down the corner from you, they get it:

“Freedom is always worth the price.”

The simplicity of this statement is irreconcilable to liberals. It confounds them, their notions of nuance, the “gray” that they see with everything.

People like Obama (& Obama’s supporters) have to slice-and-dice the statements. There has to be a grander vision (or, usually, a grander conspiracy). There always has to be someone to blame.

To this soldier, I salute you.

To the leftists that retort with sniping comments in reply to this YouTube video, well, I don’t really have anything to say to you.

I heartily encourage those of you who know Iraq war veterans to make the opportunity for them to put their thoughts on video, with intent to post it to the Internet, like YouTube.

They need to have their say about any number of things, such as the support they got during the war, how they were treated by the MSM, if possible, naming names, and what they think of those politicians who they feel mistreated them and their cause.
