South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler sharply attacked Sarah Palin today, saying John McCain had chosen a running mate " whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.”
Palin is an opponent of abortion rights and gave birth to her fifth child, Trig, earlier this year after finding out during her pregnancy that the baby had Down syndrome.
Fowler told my colleague Alex Burns in an interview that the selection of an opponent of abortion rights would not boost McCain among many women.
“Among Democratic women and even among independent women, I don’t think it helped him,” she said.
Told of McCain's boost in the new ABC/Washington Post among white women following the Palin pick, Fowler said: "Just anecdotally, I believe that those white women are Republican women anyway."

It’s part of their delusion that everyone is as moonbatty as them.
I see two different kinds of committed dems. Those that know the country is different, and want to change it. They hide carefully what they really stand for.
The other kind is like the kooks at DU, that think the country really does want socialism, and the only reason they keep losing elections is cheating at the ballot box. Ha!
There is of course the third kind, that votes Democrat because they think the “Dems are for the little guy” like them, but otherwise think they are patriotic and just plain folks. I don’t count them because they aren’t really Dems, they just don’t know it.
The ones losing it are the second kind. They really think if they take the gloves out and “expose” Palin as one of those nutty prolifers, the electorate will “understand”.
They don’t realize they are being REJECTED. Because this is AMERICA, not EUROPE.
What I especially love is that had a Republican said something stupid, it would lead the nightly news whereas this will be buried. And the dinosaur media wonders why they’re losing readers and viewers.
