Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin would triumph over President Dmitry Medvedev if presidential polls were held this weekend, an opinion poll showed on Wednesday.

A separate survey showed that if Russians were allowed to vote in U.S. polls, they would prefer Democrat Barack Obama to Republican John McCain.

The polls follow Russia's intervention in Georgia last month to crush Tbilisi's attempt to retake a pro-Moscow separatist region of South Ossetia.

I’m thinking it’s about time we start running similar polls during the elections of other countries.

Putin and Obama: both dictators both tyrants - only one difference - Putin doesn't pretend to be a bleeding heart "liberal" like the Obamacrats. "Liberal" is now a label for authoritarian government types who want power to tell others what to do and don't care what it takes to get their including abolishing your freedoms. (Constitution? What's that?)

Yup, Putin and Obama, two peas in the same pod.

The problem with that idea is that the responses to the pollsters' questions would be, "who cares?", "their business", "who?". People in the U. S. are not as obsessed with the rest of the world as the rest of the world is with the U.S.

Wishy washy, push over leaders are always prefered by those who oppose us. Put someone with a backbone in as President and they become instantly unpopular. I’m sure the Russians loved Ronald Reagan. (Sarc.) If a candidate is supported by the likes of Chavez, Mugabe, the little guy from Iran, the Peruvian guy et.al., you know we are in deep doo doo.

This is why Obama should run for the Russian presidency. He would definitely do a better job than Putin.

Yes, and they foolishly think that Carter and Clinton were the best US Presidents ... because that is what they were told.
