I think we all know that if she were not in the race and had not used the Pitbull/Hockey mom/lipstick joke, we would not have heard Obama and other surrogates like Beckel using the Lipstick-related comments. Their only reason for using that word was as a comeback to her joke -- thus it did refer to her.
That said, I think it's good for the McCain campaign to not dwell on it beyond today. I think Sarah should end it with a humorous comment showing that she's classy enough to forgive even without an apology.

ON the other hand, it sure would be funny if thousands of women at Palin rallies spontaneously started showing up wearing pig nose masks as a way to shame the Obama camp and turn this into an ongoing ridicule of Obama!

I agree about not dwelling on the incident. The best outcome would be that the public starts to expect immature and sneaky personal insults from the Messiah. He's not the thoughtful, businesslike, level-headed and mature person that many people were fooled into seeing him as.
